Old guy Posted November 15, 2014 Posted November 15, 2014 Rkt you seem to go though cycles where you realise he is crap but afford a while you heart warms up again I am sure it's correlated to him playing at home and away
-Robin- Posted November 15, 2014 Posted November 15, 2014 I think this was the first catch ever dropped by a fielder. :two_thumbs_up: no it was not but rohit always play a shot like that after tuk tuk tuk
rkt.india Posted November 15, 2014 Posted November 15, 2014 That is part of how to play moving ball ..leaving is also part of it and you have to play some of them but with his technique he finds it difficult And it's not just patience he is has been here for so many years and I am sure even when he retires you will make same excuses and I am honestly bored..keep telling yourself after every inning he plays on patta that nothing...good luck :two_thumbs_up: I am not saying this based on this inning. I am saying it from last year. VVS Laxman had the similar technique, Sehwag had similar technique. They succeeded. So, for me, it is more mental than technical. Technique isn't everything and does not guarantee success. I am after all an ARSOL founder but I dont write anyone off. Vijay has similar technique too, still scored runs in England. So cricket is more than just technique. More temperament and shot selection that is where he is poor.
rkt.india Posted November 15, 2014 Posted November 15, 2014 Rkt you seem to go though cycles where you realise he is crap but afford a while you heart warms up again I am sure it's correlated to him playing at home and away This inning has nothing to do with it. I will still not play him in my test team overseas if I was the selector as I dont trust his batting.
rkt.india Posted November 15, 2014 Posted November 15, 2014 no it was not but rohit always play a shot like that after tuk tuk tuk If it had hit middle and gone for 4 or 6, you would have said great shot. Cricket is all about chance. Rahane was dropped early on in first ODI and scored 100. He as dropped and scored 200.

rkt.india Posted November 15, 2014 Posted November 15, 2014 LOL than i dont know why people bash Afridi too much here :hysterical: he also take chance and gets out its not his mistake right? Afridi does not score 200 and averages 22 after so many matches. Which batsman isnt dropped, tell me. Most big innings happen due to drops. Sehwag is dropped almost in all matches he played big knocks, same for Dhawan. Batsmen when attack are bound to have some drops, some takes. Cricket is all about chances you get.

Lets wait for triangular series we will see how great he is :two_thumbs_up:

Silva Posted November 15, 2014 Posted November 15, 2014 if he flops in the cb series and/or group stages of the world cup he will be replaced by rahane in the knockout stages IMO. Selectors and dhoni have been pretty supportive of rahane.
-Robin- Posted November 15, 2014 Posted November 15, 2014 Here is the record of Rohit after his 209 and before 264 he averages 30.71 with SR of 70.37 in 16 matches http://stats.espncricinfo.com/ci/engine/player/34102.html?class=2;spanmax1=31+oct+2014;spanmin1=05+nov+2013;spanval1=span;template=results;type=batting and if we include both innings its changes drastically Averagaes 56.43 and SR 95.85 in 18 matches http://stats.espncricinfo.com/ci/engine/player/34102.html?class=2;spanmax2=13+nov+2014;spanmin2=01+nov+2013;spanval2=span;template=results;type=batting
Precambrian Posted November 15, 2014 Posted November 15, 2014 Anyhow' date=' like I said earlier, won't go back and watch the HL of this knock. Wouldn't enjoy it like a Sachin's or Viru's.[/quote'] I'd place this above Sehwag's very easily. Especially the portion after he got his 100 is just surreal. The last 100 odd runs were like gully cricket. That shot off Kulasekara where he took the ball a good two metres outside off stump and deposited over deep midwicket was just bloody mind ****ing stuff. Still wondering how he pulled that one off!!

If you ignore Lara's double hundreds in test cricket, his average plummets to 44 from 127 tests from 52.88 in 131 tests.
Precambrian Posted November 15, 2014 Posted November 15, 2014 Or Warne's bowling average goes over 30 from 140 matches as compared to his actual 25 from 145 matches if you ignore the fifers he took.

If you ignore Lara's double hundreds in test cricket, his average plummets to 44 from 127 tests from 52.88 in 131 tests. No these stats prove his worth in majority of matches He is liability in majority of years other than 2 huge knocks at home on flat track in dead rubber and it was to prove how rohit bats and how strike rate is misleading as he break evens very late Most batsman are able to take single and by the time hey score 50 are scoring runs quickly but rohit only gets there near 100 which is very rare and majority of times wastes deliveries and gets out If he can bat slowly but bat till 30 overs in many games I will be happy but that is not the case and these stats prove it
Old guy Posted November 15, 2014 Posted November 15, 2014 If can get be consistent but slow I will take him but problem is he is inconsistent and slow and his average is saved by 2 freak innings but sadly those inning only win you 1 match and in World Cup is that worth it specially because his record away is just pathetic

Lets remove these two innings from rohit's overall stats and than check his record.

Come on. Yes he starts slowly - but I don't think that has been a major impediment as it benefits the remaining batters to throw kitchen sink at without having to waste time playing in. I think he is just blossoming into his full talent, I surely am positive he'll average above 50 at a good SR over the next few years.

And I showed you with an example as well.

I think he is just blossoming into his full talent, I surely am positive he'll average above 50 at a good SR over the next few years. He did well but Rahane showed he can do better in same conditions and scored 100 and even helped his out of form partner get back into form by scoring quicker and taking pressure off We won that trophy because of dhawan and I do not rate him too and will pick rohit over him in Australia strictly because of their strengths and weakness but it's valid point that rohit in majority of matches is liability at start and he needs to get more singles This does not mean I want him dropped but want him to Improve this part of game ...at least when you score 30 runs in power play have strike rate of 70 and and at 50 runs 80 strike rate and if he gets out its ok if he stays he can win us big time but problem is he can waste 50 balls and still get out without adding much and in this game too if he got out on 50 we would have gotten under par score You probably know better than me that statistically probability of him getting out around 50 is more than him scoring 100 like this ...so should be ignore what he does in majority of games ? Should we ignore majority of ducks afraid I scores just because he can score worlds quickest 100 ? I am not comparing them but just suggesting why some times you have to judge player what he does in majority of matches rather than few freak performances
