Well lets be frank, provided the IPL can clean up its image its a very good thing for India from an economic POV.  It gets people to the stadiums, spending money and generating jobs. 

I would like to see ranji cricketers paid more in the ipl though. Base salaries must be say 60-70k dollars.

I like how you left out the fact that this is based on a statement made by BCCI. A proper study would show the amount of puplic money going into security and the stadiums that they play in. Plus you would have to prove that people wouldn't spend their entertainment money and viewership somewhere else if the IPL didn't exist which is impossible.

Ofcourse it would be great if IPL can stay out of all the negative press. What I don't like is people belittling it and calling to stop it just because those old farts don't like IPL and want to see only Tests.

I never said that their was a proper study done specifically on the IPL. sporting events in general don't have much of a positive economic impact, that's just a fact. BCCI and IPL saying their god's gift to the Indian economy after last years IPL was marred in controversy and people are just going to take their word for it?

Big deal . That is less than half the revenues of a mid-cap software export company in India.

Even if total economic output is considered as per the BCCI PR statement , it is hardly impressive .

"The total economic output associated with IPL matches in India for 2015 is estimated at INR 26.5 billion ($418 million). This is the aggregate value of all transactions that took place as a direct, indirect or induced effect of the economic activity of the 2015 matches.

I wonder if the KPMG study took into account the indirect subsidies enjoyed by BCCI in the form of State expense on stadiums , security .etc.

Of course , if loss in productive man-hours is also accounted for (People watching the games and checking scores ) , IPL would be rightly considered a huge drain on the resources of a developing nation.

When it comes to IPL, the only number that matters is that hundred odd domestic players can make a living out of cricket. 

BCCI is being a dumbass by agreeing to tour other countries for free. I understand that other countries tour India for free too but market value for each Indian game is close to 10 million $, while others like pak or SL earn south of half a million. This is money that BCCI is leaving under table and it is money that should be spread across domestic circuit.

Just because it's good for the economy doesn't mean it's good for cricket. Drug trafficking generates hundreds of millions for the economy too.
