If you leave his stats out of it, Kumble has conceded more than 150 runs all by himself as a cost of that 29 average. And the run glut from 2004 has led folks to believe that is repeatable. Every single player fired on that tour and repeating that is merely a statistical improbability. I'm not being pessimistic, but this is once you keep the stats out of it, because they mean jacksh*t against the Aussies. Link to comment
