Player selection basis

Ipl has just ended & new season is starting by a tour of Zimbabwe followed by WI tour. Also a A tour of Australia is scheduled in August.

I would like to know on what basis the selectors are going to select the team.As per the recent selection,the selectors have not given any importance to players who have performed well in Ranji Trophy.The highest scorer & highest wicket taker are not selected in both the squad.But Faiz Faizal has been selected inspite of being in the list at 32 no in highest scorer list 

What is the criteria on which Faizal is selected over Shreyas Iyer,Jayant Yadav is selected over Nadeem .

What will be the criteria for selecting A team for Australia.Will the successful Ranji players ie Shreyas Iyer,Nadeem,K Monish,Krisna Das,Herwadkar,will be ignored again for players ie Kunal Pandya,Chahal,Baby,Fazal etc

Criteria i understood

 

1. U have to be a trundler coz in 1983 some gentle low- medium pace bowlers won us Wc n it wud happen again. 

2. U have to be an all rounder who cant clear boundaries

3. U have to grind many yrs in domestic cricket coz now we follow Aus cricket style only diff is our domestic structure is not half as gud as their and our 30 above debutant like jadhav r not 10% of hussey in fielding or batting

4. No exciting fast bowlers wud be fast tracked like PAk, SL, Bang have done with chameera, aamir, mustafizur until they become trundlers

Nadeem plays in the lowest division of Ranji. Taking truckloads of wickets there does not matter. He gets exposed the moment he plays in Duleep Trophy or for India A where competitive standard is better.

 

Shreyas Iyer should have been picked for WI Tests ahead of Rohit. But then he's only 21 and has age on his side, A few A tours and another FC season would not harm him. Last time he played for A team, he threw away a lot of starts and was getting out in 30-40. Would be good to test him how he does vs Aus A.

But some players who are in the list of top batsman & bowlers,deserves a chance to be selected in A team.It will be injustice for Nadeem,if Kunal Pandya,is selected over him.Nadeem has over 50 wickets in Ranji,while Kunal has 2-3, performance in IPL.Similarly there is notion that Nathu Singh should be selected over Krishna Das as he has ability to bowl over 140 kmph.

Australia has choosen their A team & National performance squad for the series against India A & SA A.

The selectors have choosen a side which has potential to represent Australia in future.Several emerging players ie Matt Renshaw,Sam Harley,A lex Ross,Travis Dean,Jake Lehman have been choosen.

Indian selectors should also select a team which has potential to play for national team in future.
