SachDan
Unless he changes the style of his appealing,India will have to be ready to accept these sort of decisions going against... He seldom looks confident and today's symmonds one was a classical example. He was the only one who could have sounded confident and made the leg umpire to refer it to third umpire.. Had it been Mongia or Parthiv, they would have been jumping for ever..hence put pressure on the umpire. Link to comment

The Outsider
Most keepers would have been able to pressure Stevie Wonder into calling for the third umpire yesterday. Dhoni needs to be more vocal out there. Link to comment

Dhondy
Exactly...he never puts pressure on umpires..as u said' date='his fair man attitude will ruin india in the future also.[/quote'] Exactly the opposite. Umpires the world over have seen so many monkey incarnates jump up and down at the slightest opportunity, Dhoni comes across as a breath of fresh air. His reputation for fairness will get around, and when he does appeal, he'll get those decisions. It'll take time, but it'll happen. Link to comment

SachDan
@dhondy...umpiring standard has gone down drastically all over the world and if the keepers post to be nice boys, then we'll have to be content with rash decisions such as the ones in this test...they now have to outsmart the umps and go wild even if there's a slight doubt.. Cricket is no more a gentleman's game so don't worry abt reputation. its winning or loosing that matters at the end of the day. Link to comment
gator
partially agree with Dhondy .... but if u r confident tht the batter is out, and u dont get a referral to the 3rd umpire, he should be experienced enuf by now to know tht a lil bit more pressure on the umpire would have got a referral.... Dravid
He is too cooool to jump up and down He dosent even appeal sometimes... Link to comment
ludhianvi
Dhoni did give Buckonor the questioning look after the initial appeal. He didnt even collect the bails Link to comment
goose
Agreed. He tends to celebrate quietly to himself. Link to comment

He's fair and that's fantastic, but he could have shown a bit more heart when Steve Bucknor didn't go to the third umpire. Link to comment
Sachinism
an appeal is an appeal even if the slightest appeal is made it shouldnt make a difference from a over the top one else everyone would make 5 minute appeals to get wickets Link to comment
Rohip
Most keepers would have been able to pressure Stevie Wonder into calling for the third umpire yesterday. Dhoni needs to be more vocal out there. That doesnt mean anything, Stevie Wonder would have to call for the 3rd umpire after every delivery! Link to comment
rahul_desiz
I totallly agree with this... Dhoni appeals(if you all the Caught behinds in Australia) are all half-hearted... as someone, he thinks himself as too cool to appeal louder.. i know people will think its stupid to blame Dhoni but seriosly go and check the videos..when Symonds nicked it, it was Dhoni who looked more quieter and nervous than Symonds..he sometimes dont even appeal for LBWs... for some reason, i dont find him the same dhoni... all that agressiveness he had in starting of his career(when his average in all formats was above 50 and strike near 100) is gone now.. he wants to learn how to defend a fulltoss...
