Donny
Sure they could but would be next to meaningless because of the many 50/50 decisions. Link to comment

Well not really, it will give us an idea of the kinda umpire the person is.. (for example, if he gives more leg-befores or not and simple stuff like that). Also, the experience of the umpire matters.. Stuff like this was Steve Bucknor's 500th decision or something. No harm in keeping those stats for umpires is there ? I'm sure as they are human they wouldn't mind their stats being collected, and in fact would appreciate it. Link to comment
Rajiv
Bad umpiring not only affects players but the umpires too. A couple of bad decisions, and they suddenly get too conservative in giving straight-forward ones.. it's a vicious cycle. That's what happens when you have the human element in umpiring ;-) Pity that statsguru doesn't have umpire stats. They should as umpires are such a part of the game :P Bad umpiring not only affects players but the umpires too, and fans and posters and mods, the forums Link to comment

organic-avocado
Bad umpiring, like Symonds not being given caught behind, make you lose faith in human goodness and justice Link to comment

putrevus
Here we have major issue Karthick (murali) admiited he nicked the ball in an odi and still batted on india won the match ,here also symonds does the same. On both accounts it is cheating, how is it different from fielder claiming a fair catch knowing fully he claimed it on bounce which is serious offense according to ICC , is it not umpires job to make sure the fielder caught it.They suspended Rashid latif for five games for the same offense, why does it change when it comes to batsman who openly admits he was out should he not face the same suspension. We are talking about only catches not LBWS. Guest dada_rocks
99.9999999999% of the time that is not given out u don't give a batsman out when two stumps are visibla and ball was delivererd from angle.. if that was blunder bloody 4-5 blunder happens in every inning Link to comment
