I can't find what economic school of thought he belongs to. Does anyone know? 

He seemed to have worked with Rajan for a while, so he may be related to the Chicago school, but Swamy also approves of him, so he may be closer to the Harvard school of thought. And then there are the smaller schools...

So I guess no drastic change, same old regime, as deputy gets promoted to governer. 

Anyways these economists are over rated and given too much influential decision making powers...dismal science at its best

For anyone who's interested, Patel is indeed from the same school of thought as Rajan. The policies are not likely to change to much. It looks like Rajan was dropped because he started playing politics as RBI governer and was going slow against corruption.

 

Now if Modi could only curb the rampant Judicial Activism.
