Current Indian Test XI - All Conditions

What would be your Indian Test XI to play across all conditions in all countries ?

 

No 12th man.

No "/" (You have to pick only 1 player for each position. No Yadav/Ishant or Dhawan/Rohit etc.).

No if...then conditions (If the pitch is spinning, If Rohit plays to his potential, If pigs could fly etc.)

 

Mine would be ..

 

M Vijay

K Rahul

C Pujara

* V Kohli

A Rahane

R Ashwin

+ W Saha

R Jadeja

B Kumar

M Shami

U Yadav

We do not have an all condition 11....especially as far as bowlers are concerned.

 

Shami is our only all-condition bowler and even he has a lot of room for improvement.

Well, that's the challenge. To pick a balanced team which has a chance to do well in all conditions.

 

It'd be tough for other teams as well. For example, do England pick Stokes or Rashid as the fifth bowler? Second spinner would be needed for subcon but may not be very valuable in some other conditions, it will also weaken their batting a bit.

If we want an all-condition 11 then we need to find new bowlers.  

 

New guys like Shardul, Nathu and Kuldeep have the potential but we won't know with certainty  till they actually represent India.   Nathu and Kuldeep need more FC experience too.

Don't think of a perfect XI. Come up with a XI among the current players which will do a decent job in all conditions.

I would pick Ishant all day over the mindless Umesh Yadav. Ishant could bowl some fiery spells like he did in the recent Lanka's tour

Don't know about conditions but that's the best test team I could think of right now. No thanks Rohit and Dhawan.
