Disclaimer - Sachin was perfection. He is the pinnacle of cricket, so I won't bring him into discussion for comparison with mortals. He played all shots with the greatest precision and perfection. His backfoot cover drive can easily be called the 'shot of god'.

Mike Hussey had the best cover drive I've ever seen, easily. He could hit the ball through covers, irrespective of where the ball pitched. Half volley, good length and short ball. Amazing batsman.

Now coming to Kohli, there is no doubt the front foot cover drive is his trademark shot. Especially given that he doesn't have many shots in his repertoire. He plays great percentage cricket. He waits for the bad ball to play his favored cover drive or flick. I've never seen him play a drive off the backfoot or a drive through point. He is, I'm afraid, a limited player, but an effective one at that.

It is the first time I  have heard this statement.  He is known to be a stroke-player who plays all around the wicket....and  regularly plays the front-foot drives from cover to  long-on...the pull...the hook...the cut...the flick and glance...the back-foot punch through mid-wicket...the steer.

What he does not play regularly are the lofted shots and improvised shots...which is good in test cricket. The 2 classic shots he does not apply much are the sweep and the back-foot  extra-cover drive.
