maggot_brain
Will Australia go for the kill? That is, will they try and bowl India out after setting them a target of 250 or more? Knowing that no-one has chased more than 250 at this ground. If they don't try and win that means their winning streak may end if it's a draw. Link to comment
beetle
No they won't. They are worried now...... Link to comment
bobkutha
agree there, pontings scared shitless, he's too worried about getting bhajji banned from next test so he wont have to face him, he doesnt care abt record win anymore... Link to comment
chamatkar
They'll set a target of 300 in 2 sessions The stats don't matter .. .and Perth will be conducive to their pace attack all over again. Link to comment

maggot_brain
The thing in our favour is that this is a turning track and Hogg isn't exactly a premier spin bowler. Hmm, 300 in two sessions. That's 5 runs an over. If there's an extra half hour for a result let's say we have 70 overs to get it that's 4.28 an over. Rain permitting of course. Achievable I'd say - just. Link to comment
Dravid
they will decalre as soon as hussey get his lil 100... i think 213 if enuff for us..for 4th innings...we aint gonna get that.. lets hope it rains :) Link to comment
DomainK
I dont think punter will declare for any lead less than 300. But they will sure try to fire away to that as fast as they could. Leaving India a lot of time is a two edged sword for Punter. It will give the Australian bowlers enough time to take 10 wickets and on the other hand, if the likes of Tendulkar, Laxman and Ganguly get stuck, it will allow them enough time to chase it down as well. India dont have a lot to lose....Australia have. Link to comment
living
I predict Ponting will declare with a lead of 250ish. pray for an interesting game Link to comment
maggot_brain
Thing is it's all up in the air, isn't it? If Ponting declares too late -> draw -> lose record winning run; or if Ponting declares too early -> India win -> lose record winning run and series levelled These two scenarios are based on the fact that India won't have a batting collapse. If they do then an Australian win is possible. So there's a combination of several different variables. Should make for a interesting final day. Link to comment
fineleg
Barring an Indian batting collapse, this is a DRAW. Ponting will care more abt taking the series 1-0 into Perth. They will bat till nearly lunch, and will ask India to face an uncomfortable 6 overs before lunch. That will be the tricky period for India, where we need to negotiate. If we cross lunch, then we should expect it is relatively easy for our batsmen to bat out 2 sessions atleast and draw this. The target will be stiff for day-5 scg, so indian win will not happen, since Ponting can bowl defensive and set defensive fields after Tea if India is doing well. The only minor factor will be if Indian batting collapses! (not that we have not seen such a thing!) Link to comment

jf1gp_1
even if aussie make a sporty declaration India will never go for it. Link to comment
