Pretty decent XI.. But I still think Pandey deserves a place in the XI.. 

I'd put Pandey at 4 and Rahul at 6 in your XI.

India series to Australia is almost 2 years away, right now they don't have anything going for them. Khawaja can't play spin, Warner is out of form, and Wade is just another passenger. Bowling wise, they aren't too bad, but they don't have Johnston or Ryan Harris anymore. Current bunch looks clueless against pathetic batting unit like Pakistan, making Azhar look like Bradman.

^^Aus pitches have become really flat these days.. So, I'm not surprised..

For Pandey to get a place it will need Dhawan to fail ...
coz then we can put rahul at the top..

U cant play rahul at 6 ..He would be wasted..
It is suited for players like raina or pant .
Raina is grt fielder and an occasional spinner with experience
He still has a place in this team.

Rahul too is good enough to bat in middle order at any number.  He has taken his game to the next level in last one year.  Raina's fielding isnt the same. There was a reason people on ICF named him Rainatunga.

That's the problem.. No.6 being such a crucial spot in the batting order doesn't have takers...

We've had Dhoni there for a while, but as he admits himself doesn't seem to fit in there anymore..

Pandey or Rahane are sure shot failures down the order.. Raina has fitness issues..

 

For immediate need, I still think Rahul can do justice to the No.6 spot, given his recent IPL success..

Over the couple of years, groom Pant to be the hitter at No. 6, and play Rahul and Pandey at 4 and 5.
