. this thing is dead on arrival in the Senate where the Republicans have control.

I wouldn't be so sure.

if the Democrats think this will help them in the presidential election, they are clearly not as intelligent as they think they are.

Trump's candidacy in 2020 is DOA.  Republicans are already searching for plan B.  They know that a democratic presidency is inevitable.  Question is, will it be better to let Trump go out flaming, or make a move to oust him ahead of the election.  The latter option doesn't have a politically viable pathway sorted out yet.  But its very likely that one will be found.

will the whistleblower testify? Absolutely not, because he is connected to Adam Schiff.

will hunter biden testify? I don't think so.

Whistleblower's testimony is not required.  He reported the issue, which has been corroborated by multiple witnesses - including Trump appointees like Sondland.  Case is open-and-shut - strong enough to even sway a handful of Republican senators if it comes to actually voting on impeachment conviction.

I do not think things will go as far as that however.  I expect Trump to look for a deal for his exit - including a carte blanche pardon across the board for all his 'mistakes' during Presidency and even his corporate white collar crimes.   Right now, he has the republicans by the short ones, because he's probably threatening to take down Mike Pence with him - This, I suspect, is the real reason that the entire Republican party is still supporting him at least verbally, not just the fringe.  Because they do not want to see Nancy Pelosi sworn in as President next month.

Democrats need to probably offer a compromise that involves letting Mike Pence be temporary lame duck president AND bundle that with a deal for Trump that he will accept - That is what's needed for the impeachment  train to reach its station.

@sandeep I can assure you that republicans are fully behind trump. they have no choice. A democratic presidency is not inevitable, especially with Sanders and Warren as your main candidates.

The 2008 economic crisis forced rural white folks to vote for a first black president named Barack Husein Obama.  Trump's shenanigans leave voters no choice but to vote blue - Warren isn't as extreme a candidate as Republicans like to pretend.

Have you seen Warren's Medicare for all plan? Its not sustainable nor would it ever be able to get passed in the House and Senate

Republicans are not going to allow this in the Senate without whistleblower and hunter Biden coming to testify. They are prepared to go all the way, given how much of a muted response American public gave to the impeachment hearings.

I expect nothing to happen. No quid pro quo has been established, unless you take testimony of life-long entrenched DC bureaucrats to be the gospel truth.  The Democrats just wanted to fire up their base for the upcoming elections, because with socialists like Sanders and Warren leading the pack, they will need every vote they can get. Moderate Democrats have no interest in Sanders or Warren's economic plans.

Democrats are themselves digging a hole by continuing with Schiff's drama. They are just pacifying the far-left wing nuts in their party who want Trump hauled up under any circumstances. The polling clearly shows that the impeachment hearings have had no effect on the minds of voters, as there are more pressing issues to deal with.

Call it "Medicare for all" or whatever - healthcare reform is inevitable in this country.  Its an evil broken system where paperwork pushing bureaucrats are raking in profits and neither doctors nor patients are happy.  And it would be cheaper than the current system overall.

yeah with an initial estimate of 20.5 trillion dollars. that's on paper. Obama needed blue dogs to pass the ACA and that was a slim majority. we'll see if the same blue dogs stand by crazy warren in the future.

I'm not sure if this guy is serious or he's parodying a Bhakt gone Trump.

you can't  argue on facts but resort to name-calling. Dems are losing the impeachement battle. Doing it just before election year is futile. Best was to let Repubs implode and fire Trump. Now Trump has public backing for wrongly impeaching him on grounds that can't be proven without whistle-blower's testimony. Plus they are employing SJW activists to testify. Dearth of intellects. I hated Trump, but the way Dems are dealing with him, they did the same with Dubya and lost the battle.
