------------------------------------------------------ So finally Wasim Jaffer is dropped. Where on earth is Munaf? What is his situation? And Yusuf Pathan is also dumped for good, it seems! Can't see the name of any shining seamer or spinner here. Rkt, can you help here?
West Zone won 2008/09 and 2009/10 Duleep Trophy under Wasim Jaffer. in 2009/10 Duleep Trophy final, Yusuf Pathan hit unbeaten 210 in the fourth inning of just 190 balls which lead to West Zone beating South Zone by just 3 wicket. Yusuf Pathan is injured. Munaf Patel played only 1 practice match out of 2 at NCA, he wasn't fully match fit thats why he was overlooked for ODI squad and probably also this squad.

Natraj Behera named East Zone captain for Duleep Trophy Natraj Behera named East Zone captain for Duleep Trophy PTI | Jan 18, 2012 KOLKATA: Orissa batsman Natraj Behera was named captain to lead a 15-member East Zone squad who will take on West Zone in their Duleep Trophy opener at Valsad (Gujarat) from January 27-30. Behera was named skipper in place of stylish Bengal batsman Manoj Tiwary who was picked for the upcoming tri-series in Australia. Orissa coach and former India seamer Debasis Mohanty will coach the East Zone side. The squad has five from Bengal including wicketkeeper Shreevats Goswami in place of Wriddhiman Saha who is also doing national duty in the ongoing Test series Down Under. Jharkhand's Ishank Jaggi will be Behera's deputy as the two state associations have three players each in the squad. Assam too have three players in the side including former Maharashtra opening batsman Dheeraj Jadhav and medium-pacer Abu Nechim Ahmed. Tripura have the sole representation in Subhrajit Roy. Squad: Natraj Behera (captain), Biplab Samantaray and Basanta Mohanty (all Orissa); Anustup Majumdar, Laxmi Ratan Shukla, Shreevats Goswami (wk), Ashoke Dinda and Mohammad Sami Ahmed (all Bengal); Ishank Jaggi (vice-captain), Manish Vardhan and Shahbaz Nadeem (all Jharkhand); Dheeraj Jadhav, Abu Nachim Ahmed and Gokul Sharma (all Assam); Subhrajit Roy (Tripura); Stand-byes: Rana Dutta (Tripura) and Abhilash Mallick (Odisha).

Jaggi and Jadhav are ok right?
Dheeraj Jadhav is an experienced stalwart and possibly the best batsman. I really dunno much about Jaggi, the last time I saw him he was playing for some IPL team where the players had Chipli, Jaggi, Moti, Khoti kind of names. Dunno which team that was. The pitch will offer good bounce and swing, but West Zone has a bunch of trundlers only. But Ishwar Chaudhury seems to be a decent swing bowler, and these Oriya and Jharkhandi young guns might capitulate pretty easily. The keeper (Srivats Goswami) is talented and a good strokeplayer, but the fecker has not crossed 50 is any of the Ranji matches.

Unfortunately, West zone and as well as SZ have not been producing many potential seamers or fast bowlers in recent times and have been batting heavy. Fast bowlers are coming mostly from CZ, NZ or EZ.
