Future of failed players - What can we do with them??

Recommended Posts

Many players in the squad have been failures in this series but have done well in the past . Some have real potential and can become very good players if we handle them well.. So what to do with them?? Ashwin - Arguably the biggest failure of this series +ves - Can bat well , young , rookie , can learn new things Problem - Inconsistent , bowls a boundary ball every over , fields like a donkey Options - 1) Play ranji , India A and English county for the next year along with ODIs 2) Useless for tests , make him a ODI and T20 specialist Alternatives : Baba aparjith ??? ( any other offie???) Kohli +ves- Best young player in the country , future captain ? Problem - Plays too many shots , dunno if he is just unlucky or any problem in his technique wrt to test .. Options - 1) Not too many cause he plays all three formats , maybe english county if he gets time. Or keep playing him hoping he gets better eventually Alternative: Rhane , rohit , tiwary Yuvraj +ves - Match winner ,decent bowler Problem- Poor defence , weak against spin Options - 1 ) English county ( he will thrash our trundlers in ranji flat pitches ) - 2) Just accept that he is not good for tests , concentrate on ODIs Alternatives : Jadeja , badri Gambhir +ves - Can play long innings , very good player of spin Problem- Poor technique , poking balls outside off Options - 1) Drop him immediately and English county Alternatives : Mukund , Rahane Ojha +ves - Very good bowler if the pitch offers some turn Problem- No variations , bowls very slow Options - Get advice from former spinners ( maybe bedi :haha: ) , develop variations ,practice Alternatives : Karthik , harmeet , Iqbal abdulla Harbhajan +ves - good bowler once upon a time :winky: Problem- ODIs and T20 ruined him , Darts now Options - No idea . has played county , cannot pick wickets in ranji and he is not young anymore. what else can he learn ?? Alternatives :Ashwin :haha:

Secondly with regards to batting, last two years India have really struggled to score past 400 runs in one innings. The only solution is bring in younger players now rather then later, having the likes Sachin, Sehwag, and Yuvi guiding/mentoring the youngsters is turning into a joke.

I would love to see that U19 left arm spinner(Harmeet Singh?) against Australia' date=' guy has talent and 19-20 is good enough for international debutl. Won't do any worse than the current lot.[/quote'] Harmeet Singh doesn't even get a chance in his Ranji side. Presently playing the CK Nayudu Trophy and getting slaughtered there as well. His average this season would be around 100.
