Prime Minister Narendra Modi has some fresh directives for the MPs of the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP). The Prime Minister has reportedly asked his MPs to stop touching feets of senior leaders, and be well prepared before speaking in the House. According to reports, Modi has also asked party MPs to be regular in Parliament and do their homework. The Prime Minister issued these directives to the MPs during the BJP Parliamentary party meeting

In a new anti-Naxalite strategy being readied by government, bureaucrats and security personnel operating in Maoist-hit areas may get special monetary benefits, out-of-turn promotions and choice posting after the completion of their tenure in these "dangerous" places.
Flagging Naxalite areas as the 'most dangerous zone' in the country, the government will enhance hardship allowance given to paramilitary personnel deployed in these places more than what they get while serving in Jammu & Kashmir and Northeastern region

From now onward, no minister in the Narendra Modi government will form part of any delegation going abroad to participate in a conference on science and technology
“Only this month, there were two conferences taking place – one at Santiago and other in Boston. “As per past practice, we were told that the minister will lead the delegation. We asked them to excuse us from this practice,’’ Singh said, adding that a senior scientist, Dr Raghvan will now lead the delegation on July 25.

The Cabinet secretary has asked government departments to become more nimble in decision-making — by reducing the number of layers that a file passes through to four at the most and referring disputes to the Prime Minister's Office (PMO) or the Cabinet secretariat. Departments have also been asked to reduce the size of application forms to one page, wherever possible.
Apart from making the forms less intimidating by reducing their bulk, the over one-page letter has also asked secretaries to rely more on ICT tools for submission of information. "Every department should identify forms that are in vogue and shorten them, where possible, to one page only. (Seeking of unnecessary or irrelevant information should be discouraged)," the letter said. The main focus is on "improved work culture" and better service delivery, said officials. So, ministries have been asked to identify and repeal at least 10 rules or processes - and archaic laws - "that are redundant and would not lead to any loss of efficiency". India has several laws dating back over a century which TOI has repeatedly suggested should be repealed.

While alarm bells were rung across social media platforms by Modi critics that free speech will witness a sudden death in the country with his ascension to power, the BJP seems to be out to prove his critics wrong. On paper, at least. According to latest reports, the government is all set to unblock accounts blocked on Twitter by handlers of the PMOIndia account. The Modi government has reportedly also asked the BJP's IT cell to unblock hundreds of accounts they had asked to be barred on Twitter.
A report on DNA mentions that Narendra Modi's team has received close to 4000 unblock requests. It quotes a member of BJP's IT team as saying, "Nearly 2,000 followers have already been unblocked. By the end of this week, we would be able to unblock all the blocked followers. This number is expected to be around 8,000-10,000." The Twitter handles which were unblocked were initially blocked by former PM Manmohan Singh's team headed by Pankaj Pachauri. Meanwhile, The Economic Times reported that the BJP's IT cell is reportedly on a process of unblocking Twitter handles they themselves had barred for being abusive. The ET quotes Vinit Goenka, co convenor of BJP's IT cell, "We had blocked some accounts with abusive posts and tweets but with the government inplace, it is time to look at interacting with everyone about collective development." The party also intends to embrace a new policy on 'trolls'!

The President in his address today said that the Govt will set up IITs and IIMs in every state. Bad move IMO - they should first improve the quality of the new IIMs etc set up in the last few years before moving forward with the creation of so many more.
