EnterTheVoid
The North Korea - South Korea border is one of the most militarised and dangerous places on the planet. Today, I had the opportunity to go to the border (DMZ) and get a peek into North Korea. Getting into North Korea isn't easy. First step, get permission from high up: After getting permission, we make our way closer and closer to the border. The entire area is cordoned off with barbed wire, military checkpoints and electrified fences. Not only is the area heavily mined, the guards also have shoot to kill orders:
EnterTheVoid
The picture is more sinister than it looks. The entire area is mined.

EnterTheVoid
As close as one can get to the fence. The legacy of the Korea war. Families separated with very little chance of ever meeting again.
EnterTheVoid
The grey building facing us is in North Korea. We are being monitored by North Korean guards. I was under strict orders not to point, wave or gesticulate with them anyway.
EnterTheVoid
The blue buildings are where the negotiations between North and South Korea take place. They are designed such that half of the building is in North Korea, the other half is in South. After a briefing on what to do, what not to do, we go into the building and into communist territory. Escorted under full military protection by the ROK (Republic Of Korea) soldiers:

Its not without reason they wear dark aviator glasses indoors as well as outdoors.
