I remember reading an article, Shami used to goto his farm house where he had a cricket pitch and practice bowling to one wicket hours on end. They didn't say who used to retrieve the balls for him... I guess practice makes perfect , i think he can transition into an excellent fast bowling coach... ..

this thread used to be the hottest thread, with icf fans discussing new bowling talents.. wonder if anyone has insights or inside info into new fast bowling talents that may make their way into ipl teams this year ?

Again from the icf fans, who prefer brilliance over tried tested and mediocre. These brilliant youngsters who come from disadvantaged backgrounds are willing to go the extra mile, the jogging 15 km, to get to the ground, going across cities without parents to practice to chase a dream. If one person from a village proves talent and drive is what it takes more than the perfect pitch. India has a lot a villages, millions who would want to be in the 11 representing India...

Yeah, you may be right, Looks can be deceiving, we really need speed guns, and well calibrated ones so we can compare across matches too, the other Bihar bowler on the highlights was swinging the ball but was slower compared to him.

I used to go against icf fans and say let's play with tried and tested players, good slow medium pacers...but i guess India may have no option but to try these exceptional but inconsistent fast bowlers, after all i remember Umesh and Shami did win matches for us in India... wonder who the medium pacers at that time were , and the fast bowlers and the medium pacers stats when Umesh and Shami were picked by the then selectors.

I think Aquib will be a better option in tests and Simarjeet for odi and t20. Let Simarjeet prove himself over time in Ranji like Aaquib and we can consider him for tests.

If they are so scared and want to preserve their fragile, very expensive bodies for only the important matches, why choose them at all??? We could have chosen some new cricketer who wants to prove themselves, give their all ...

You need to give these so called journey men spinners and batters a shot. You can't just say these youngsters .... have talent and speed and because of that with exposure will do well in the international arena.. Australia thrives on giving their domestic stars opportunities and then gives them a long rope ...
