Gambit
in I4 at the SCG is greater than Wasim Jaffer's(22) and Yuvraj's(17) combined runs in the series thus far. In the series runs tally, Kumble so far has also outscored Dhoni by 30 odd runs. Pitiful batting by the trio, Yuvi and WJ in particular. Link to comment
guju24
seems like that kumble saving india by bowling and in batting too...players like yuvi, jaffer should learn something from that and should start contributing some runs...atleast 30 odds... Link to comment
msb1991
I bet India are regretting going with Pankaj Singh, with no intention to play him, rather than the reserve middle order batsmen. Link to comment
SachDan
@msb...Even if we had another middle order batsman he too would have been a mere traveller. Link to comment
mister
That innings off 45no was one of the best innings kumble has played, with so much pressure also the skipper off the side would have been perfect way of sealing a draw but wasnt to be because of the cheaters.. Link to comment
veer
he played gem of an inning.. 110+ ball inning in this situation... and the pain he suffered while seeing 3 batsmen getting out on other end in that second last over.. freaking amazing.. Link to comment
Guest HariSampath
Superb inngs in a crisis situation, that 45 n.o is worth a 100 from a so called specialist. I think we need to take look at what Anil Kumble told me when he was made captain...when he gave ICF a few comments. Anil is basically a very smart and intelligent cricketer, and that reflects in his batting. When I had asked him about promoting himself he clearly said he was very confident about his batting and considered himself a bowling allrounder. Many people here on ICF scoffed and laughed....but just look at the facts, a 100 in England, a crucial inngs in a vital test in New delhi against Pak which we won to take series, and AK's batting now...enough proof for me that he is a highly intelligent and competent batter against pace and spin, who shows his ability whenever he gets a chance, showing better batters like Yuvraj and Jaffer what to do......carry on Anil. In a batting lineup with Sachin, Dravid, Saurav, VVS, Yuvi and Dhoni, obviously he was never going to get the kind of opportunities he would like, but whenever he did last year he has shown how he can bat. The thing is he could always bat and had shown it in fc cricket and some testes too, but as India was more reliant on his matchwinning bowling he had not taken his batting as seriously as itse merit warranted....but now we are seeing. Kumble remains the match winner in Indian team. Sachin, Dravid all are great but without Kumble India would have never reached this level in Test Cricket! Link to comment

As long as AK can stonewall and not give his wicket away, it is very useful in Test cricket even if he scores only 10 runs in 140 balls. Link to comment
