If the BJP was a house, the curtains would be secular, the furniture, anti-minority. No bhai. If the house was BJP, it would be garishly saffron. Everything in monotone, loud, saffron. Quote It's ironic how the BJP supporters antagonise opposition as being pseudo-secular, while they themselves use secularism as nothing but a punchline. Makes you wonder, who are the real pseudo-seculars Actually most BJP suppoters online, are not openly secular. They all rote-recite the hinduvta fundamentals. Secularism is a dying thing in India because India fecked up with secularism. Secularism should be, lack of input into government by any religion and the government laws shall make no special cases for religions. India went completely 180 of this paradigm and made it a cluster-fcuk of 'secularism means equal represenation, laws and consideration, to all religions'. Hence, it is predictably, failing. Quote Uniform civil code is nothing but a stick to beat minorities with, a ruse to infringe upon an indian's freedom to practice their religion. Absolutely false. Nobody is infringing on your freedom to practice religion. Ie, emphasis on the term your. A state is obligated to treat all citizens equally in the eye of the law, so therefore, your freedom should be limited to where my freedom is concerned. That means, go ahead- practice whatever mumbo-jumbo floats your boat. But its your belief- you make it happen. Fasting is your problem. Not mine. So is amavasya or any such thing you wish to follow. At the same time, the above mentioned ideology that 'equal under the law' means they all should have, atleast on paper, equal rights towards everything enshrined by the principle of fundamental rights. So those who are actually liberal people, they are 100% in favour of uniform civil code. Whether you are adult/criminal/child/old/married/single/divorced, etc. should have all equal criterias in front of the state. And guess what ? Almost everywhere in the western world, that is the case. Quote Protesting reservations, nothing but a stick to beat lower-castes with, a ruse to deny them right to education and employment. Agree and disagree. The law was created to give favourable situations to people who are socially oppressed. And there still are people in India who are pressed. But India is a big and varied country. So far, we have cases of where economically speaking, the cast situations have completely reversed itself. So there is a good argument towards repealing reservations. Quote . Absurd meat bans and dress codes, nothing but a stick to police morality, a ruse to infringe upon an Indian's freedom of expression and choice of lifestyle. All of this while drawing up the secular curtains. Completely agreed. This is example of hindu copycat mullah-giri and impacting freedom of others due to religious mumbo jumbo. Quote "Go to Pakistan, Go to Saudi Arabia"...Sounds familiar? Sure, it does. India is now adopting the principles of a country meant to be governed as a theocracy. Yep. But India is also the forefront of the battle against Islam. It is expected, that India will become totalitarian minded society due to its growing social friction with Islam. Quote Really makes me wonder whether i'll ever be able to return to my country. Do i even have an India to return to? Probably not.

And then that 20-something bio kid wants to argue with 40 something guy. Like, we have not seen that before, either. Edited April 4, 2017 by Muloghonto

Otherwise kiddo would know, Cannae has been rated to've lost anywhere between 45-75K Romans according to historical sources. But as we can see, kids will be kids and will drag out their ignorance through each and every thread. Edited April 4, 2017 by Muloghonto

surajmal Posted April 5, 2017 Posted April 5, 2017 (edited) Heathen in his blindness was an eye opener. Dense as *, so not exactly saturday afternoon reading but most recommended. (best to start with something approachable like Shourie or Rajiv Malhotra) Malhotra says what Balagangadhara says except in plain English. Edited April 5, 2017 by surajmal
