Mohanlal is very popular in South India - which is like 20% of the country

whether the movie will breakeven, flop or become a hit is a different issue

just because the Hindi belt doesn't know someone doesn't mean he is a nobody :)

Lol at authors for creating issues where probably none exist

From wiki the plot of the novel (from Beautiful Game's post):

The story begins with the incident of Mahaprasthanika Parva where the Pandavas leave for the pilgrimage to Himalayas forsaking all the worldly possessions. The story runs through the eyes of Bhima who faces seemingly severe frustrations as a young man. Always destined to be second to his weak elder brother Yudhishthira in seniority and younger brother Arjuna in fame and popularity, Bhima is not given his due as the main architect of the Pandava victory over their cousins Kauravas in the Kurukshetra war.

He is popular only in Kerala. Not a big star in other South Indian states.
