Cricketics Posted January 26, 2018 Author Posted January 26, 2018 I will say this again, when we are playing 4 bowlers like we did in this test, we don't need Pandya. Here we are playing four bowlers and Pandya can still get wickets, but I rather take a proper batsman than him. I would have played Iyer or picked another batsman like Manish Pandey or any other bat. Pandya playeda good knock in the first test, first innings but I am not convinced by him. He put a decent effort in this series, but I think he is not the long term solution as yet. India must play someone else in England tour, especially when going with four bowlers. He is definitely not needed when we are playing four bowlers.

IMO he should be the 4th pacer overseas and we should always play a spinner -would have loved Jaddu on this pitch. He bowls good lines and can do much better if given more chances to bowl. He is about the only player that Kohli is grooming, (other than Bumrah to some extent) he will be our MVP in Australia. zen 1

That can be debated and will be debated for long time that he can play when we are playing 3 seamers. But in this test we played four seamers, and that is where he will be required far less as a bowler, so now comes the situation whether we have better batsman or can groom another top Ranji scorer in the line up who is capable of batting better than Pandya or not. If four bowlers are playing, i will surely opt for another batsman than Pandya.
