  1. 1. Should Shami play over Pandya?

    • Yes. We need a proper 5th bowler.

    • No. Pandya is very valuable as a finisher and in the field.

containing he has given more then 6rpo in recent past then pandya has

Check stats, get over ur delusions

Pandya has only give over 6rpo once in his career only once.......n against pak line up we need cushion in batting rather being scared that their avg batsman will smash pandya

Check his stats against Pak ...He's done quite decently.

Ashwin who is a speciazlied bowler is a better pick than Pandya who is the perfect definition of hittable .

Not agreeing to your opinion isn't called delusions.  throwing fancy words isn't gonna get you brownie points

Not better , comparable

s/r of 65 n 130 looks comparable

Dude thats exactly 50%........at 7 ur job is to get quick runs

Not only pandya got more runs but got it double quick

Stop making a joke of urself people can see the figures her.....65 n 130 are comparable :laugh1::laugh1:

Kohli's reasoning for not playing Ashwin in the first match was Bakis' suckitude against pace. Hopefully, that was a strategy and not one off, on a whim, selection. I think one of Shami/Yadav will replace Ashwin in the final.

Against SA he got DuPlessis with a killer slower ball and got ABDV with his wonderful fielding which changed the match. Today he would've done the same had he not dismissed Tamim off a no-ball. Plus he does well against Pakistan. Overall he has done well and as I mentioned earlier, the top order may not play as freely knowing the tail starts from no. 6 onwards instead of from 8. Makes a huge difference to the balance of the team.

You select the team based on what role you expect each player to fulfill. Pandya's role is to score quickly and bowl middle overs taking a wkt or two. You don't change the rules after the fact coz no. 7 never got the chance to bat. Things could be different in the final and we may need no. 7 to step in with the bat (I hope not though  )  and if that happens I would prefer Pandya at 7 instead of Jaddu or Ashwin.

Du Plessis wicket was exactly how he got out against Pakistan . So whether that was brilliance for the bowlers or DuPlessis weakness in getting out to a similar delivery in the same fashion.

The ABD runout I thought was more credit to Dhoni than Pandya.

Yes I agree the extra cushion of an extra bat definitely does help ,  but at what extent ?  Do we waste a spot on Pandya just to give the batsman the extra moral and psychological confidence ?   We know that Pandya cannot bat more than 4-5 overs at max and he only has 7 ODI innings with average numbers.

Pandya's bowling hasn't been good -  he bows from 15-35 overs and goes over 6-7RPO and he if he doesnt pick up wickets he's useless. Today and against SL he did nothing .

So for possible 4-5 overs of batting where he may not be able to do much or may not even get to bat and bowling stats inferior to a specialist bowler , is he a better choice ?

Your lack of common sense is incredible.

A  Strike rate of 85.5 of Jadeja over 91 innings is much better than SR of 130 in 7 innings......   apply some critical reasoning if you've learned it

What about his bowling and batting stats in this CT ?

No Pandya's average and SR are both better than Jaddu so yeah better and not comparable.

He has played 7 ODI innings........7 .

If you are comparing SR and Avg of someone with over 90 innings and 7 innings and find that  7 innings is better - you do not know how to compare

Thing is he hasn't disappointed and has looked good in that spot. Such players need to be backed as pace bowling all-rounders are like gold dust.

He may be good , but he isn't clicking in the CT at least.  If we had no back up seamers to him then fine.  But sitting Umesh and Shami who are premier strike bowlers for Pandya - who is going for runs all over and not picking wickets , how smart is that ?

Let's say Indian batsman bat well and Pandya doesn't get a chance to bat -  and his bowling isn't well - what is he doing in the team then ?

Well if you had learned statistics and weighted averages concept  you wouldn't be asking this question.

SR of Pandya in 7 innings is better than Sachin , Smith , Sanga , Ponting -  Must be a better batsman than them all.....

His spot is being wasted , imo -   a specialist bowler is needed instead of him - for his 15 runs in the end possibly - cannot sacrifice his horrible bowling

Can't take unchanged team to Finals. Pak will prepare themselves. Shami needs to come in, in place of Pandya...

Need Ashwin, Jaddu, Kedar & UV to bowl spin...

Can't play Pandya in the hope of final pinch hitting...

Brilliance was in bowling a slower short of length delivery and fooling DuPlessis for a second time after he was already fooled the same way in previous match. For a 3rd seamer and that too an all-rounder o bowl such a delivery and to deceive a world class batsman was stunning. Overall Pandya has done well and the only thing I'm p***ed with him is for his penchant for bowling no-balls. He bowled one in WT20 semis where it cost us a wkt and match and he did it again today. He needs to tighten up. other than that the guy has been pretty good and you can't ask more from an upcoming player who's barely 23!

Pandya bowling stats Avg  39.66 and RPO 5.95  in 11 matches

Shami   Avg   24.89 and RPO 5.54  in 46 matches.

Wickets win you matches and we need that.    If batting is a concern , drop one of Ashwin /Jadeja and bring Karthik in

You cannot waste a spot in a team just because you think that he may get a chance to bat and that he might score 20-25 runs.

If batting is concern , why not bring Karthik in for Ashwin/Jadeja and Shami for Pandya  -  Bowling gets stronger and batting gets stronger

And what if let's say he picks a couple of wkts while bowling and smashes a quickfire 50? See two can play the game :winky:

Pakistan bowling is their strength so we need to have added batting depth and can't risk dropping Pandya. Plus he has done well against Pakistan while bowling so he needs to be persisted with. It's Ashwin who needs to be replaced by Shami.
