Guest HariSampath Posted January 21, 2008 Posted January 21, 2008 Ganguly will be missed Yes by all opposition teams :-)
Gambit Posted January 21, 2008 Posted January 21, 2008 ^ I guess you would say that Ganguly is better as an ODI opener than Gordon Greenidge, Des Haynes, Adam Gillchrist, Sanath Jayasurya , Mathew Hayden, Herschelle Gibbs, Graham Gooch, Saeed Anwar, Gary Kirsten, and so many others whose names dont come to mind right away....duh...in my book Ganguly doesnt figure in ANY top ODI list for ANY reason. He has been one of the biggest overrated hypes as an ODI player in the world. Gibbs/Gooch/Kirsten? LOL. You are more deserving of the most humourous poster award. :D Anwar was a total non starter v/s Aus+SA. Only 1 50+ score against them in more than 50 games. SCG owns RSA. IMO, only Gilchrist,Greenidge and SRT are better openers than SCG. Others are just pretenders.
Dooks Posted January 21, 2008 Posted January 21, 2008 ^...SIMPLE...they are NOT willing to announce retirements...was that too much to understand ? How do you know? Were they even asked that we think it is about time you guys give up ODIs or we will drop you? That's total rubbish. If I was Ganguly or Dravid & they said 'we are dropping you or you guys announce your retirement from ODIs' - so you really think they would just accept it? Cr@p. I am all for youngsters but we should not treat out seniors like this. Give them a chance to retire. I don't think anybody has guts to do this to Tendulkar. They would not drop him if he played until he is 100.
Guest HariSampath Posted January 21, 2008 Posted January 21, 2008 How can a player who has played 300+ ODIs for a career strike rate of 73 at the top of the order, and of that nearly 200 innings with a sub SR 69% ever be considered in any top ODI list ?
Gambit Posted January 21, 2008 Posted January 21, 2008 How can a player who has played 300+ ODIs for a career strike rate of 73 at the top of the order' date=' and of that nearly [b']200 innings with a sub SR 69% ever be considered in any top ODI list ? How can a player who's played nearly 250 ODIS for a career strike rate of 64 at the top of the order ever be considered in any top ODI list? That man is Haynes. :D
Sachinism Posted January 21, 2008 Posted January 21, 2008 Yes by all opposition teams :-) you seem to 4get the amount of games ganguly has won for india or atleast played a major role in
Guest HariSampath Posted January 21, 2008 Posted January 21, 2008 LOL gambo, SG better than jayasurya, Haynes, Gibbs, Hayden ??? I guess you havent seen any of those bat
Guest HariSampath Posted January 21, 2008 Posted January 21, 2008 How can a player who's played nearly 250 ODIS for a career strike rate of 64 at the top of the order ever be considered in any top ODI list? That man is Haynes. :D Yeah, but all those ODIs were against top Int'l sides with NO field restrictions, NO 30 yard lines etc AND no BD, ZIm, Kenya, Bermuda et al to murder
Guest HariSampath Posted January 21, 2008 Posted January 21, 2008 you seem to 4get the amount of games ganguly has won for india or atleast played a major role in you seem to forget the number of runs per game he doesnt run, both for himself and his partner, and also the number of runs he gives away in the field...factored in, Ganguly's worth in any ODI is negative
bradman Posted January 21, 2008 Posted January 21, 2008 What about his 2nd highest MOM award for India or the one to get the fastest 6000,7000,8000,9000 runs or one of the few players whose odi avg hasnt dipped below 40. ok leave the past lets check the recent past ,with sachin and sourav as openers we have won a lot more matches than we have lost. In odi's partnership counts not individuals when these two bat the run rate is usually above 6. there has been 5 opening stands more than 100 after dada's comeback. Rewind back to what had happened before his comeback , our team fell like a pack of cards , we barely crossed the 200 run mark , atleast now we are winning more than losing , barring yuvi no other member in the team has batted so well , so why not blame them , why only ganguly ?
kooljatt Posted January 21, 2008 Posted January 21, 2008 Manoj Tiwari sud be ahead of raina in pecking order ... wo wo wo ...hold on....just go back to challeger series and look at raina's batting.....and also check out his ranji performances....he deserves a chance right now, but not at the expense of ganguly........karthick and rohit sharma should have been dropped.....i don't see a reson to pick rohit sharma and karthick as they are not gonna play a part in odi's in aus...so, why carry passengers..?
Gambit Posted January 21, 2008 Posted January 21, 2008 LOL gambo, SG better than jayasurya, Haynes, Gibbs, Hayden ??? I guess you havent seen any of those bat Gibbs? He is a doodh peeta baccha in front of SCG. Shoddy(
kooljatt Posted January 21, 2008 Posted January 21, 2008 listen guys.....the timing of dropping ganguly from team is absolultly wrong....especially after perth win,i thought they would bring dravid for this series as they would need him at 3 in aus to recover from a quick lose of wicket.....but such..Jerks are indian selecters..!!!! why not give them a series or two to prove himself...even in fielding....and if this team has been chosen on fielding basis..i can't pick any outstanding fielder except yuvraj and raina....people like rohit sharma are slower fielders than laxman...( except his 1 run out in 20-20)...why not pick kaif in his place,,? brilliant fielder , proven match winner, and good thinker of the game...
diegovegaz Posted January 21, 2008 Posted January 21, 2008 most consistent last year but poor feilding, running has cost him his place in team the whole of india knows that ganguly has never been a quick n good runner bw the wickets still he has an eye-catching record a record any player would consider 2 b too good for one man but mayb the time has come 4 d selectors 2 change d opening pair of sachin-saurav replace it with sehwag-gambhir(though sachin is there, just thinking the other side of it) and raina\rohit replacing rahul as mainstay of innings it is just respect 4 this great player that we want him there, he is a match-winner no doubt
bradman Posted January 21, 2008 Posted January 21, 2008 Damn watch India TV , it says that Dhoni wanted sachin out too :omg: ....they have a quote from Kirti azad saying that he wont be held responsible if seniors are in the team and India lose...according to that channel Dhoni doesnt want any seniors in the team , but the selectors only agreed on dravid's and dada's exclusion after a lengthy discussion , they are blaming dhoni entirely.
talksport Posted January 21, 2008 Posted January 21, 2008 Damn watch India TV ' date=' it says that Dhoni wanted sachin out too :omg: ....they have a quote from Kirti azad saying that he wont be held responsible if seniors are in the team and India lose...according to that channel [b']Dhoni doesnt want any seniors in the team , but the selectors only agreed on dravid's and dada's exclusion after a lengthy discussion , they are blaming dhoni entirely. You the Man....Way to go I dont think the selectors have any guts to drop Ganguly
yoda Posted January 21, 2008 Posted January 21, 2008 aussies will murder us with or without ganguly or RD.
talksport Posted January 21, 2008 Posted January 21, 2008 Did Steve Waugh got a farewell one day? The most respected player got dropped from One day Side....End of story. Dont understand why Ganguly,Dravid or Sachin should be given a farewell One Day .....
diegovegaz Posted January 21, 2008 Posted January 21, 2008 i have one thing to say, which may be apt poor umpiring cost us the sydney test this selection blunder will cost us the series the tri-series
Deleted_User_1 Posted January 21, 2008 Posted January 21, 2008 As Mohinder Amarnath once said "The Indian selectors are a bunch of jokers"..........there is some political move behind this.
