Rohan495
I dont think Dhoni deserves to be the voice of indian cricket. He might have been the captain while India won the 20 20 cricket competetion but if you think about it 20 20 is a game of luck in a way. His record is good in ODI's but has not made that much significant contributions outside of India. This guy basically had control over the non-inclusion of stars such as Ganguly, Dravid, and Laxman in the ODI team. Why does he have the right to do that? who the hell is he.Why does he deserve to be Vice Captain over guys like Laxman in test cricket .This guy can never be equal to any of these 3 in a batting pedigree or even class. Some of you may argue that he has tremendous will power...but which player doesnt. His technique is faulty, often gets stuck in predicaments whether to be agressive or not, but yet hes become the voice of Indian ODI cricket. Link to comment

Rohan495
it shows in many articles that Dhoni opted for youth over experience. but why do that when these guys such as raina are scoring runs in different conditions, pitches that are flat, below par bowling attacks. If raina scores runs in domestic cricket which is unlimited over matches and Laxman scores runs against a world class bowling attack in test matches wouldnt it be logical that Laxmans performance mattered more? why is there this belief that Laxman cant field or run? when was the last time this guy played an ODI match? how the hell do people assume that. His fielding has been excellent so far and his running between the wickets has in fact improved. Link to comment
fineleg
Running between wickets is not good for Lax. We could all see he was still slow. Link to comment
talksport
I dont think Selectors have the guts to drop Ganguly..... Full marks to Dhoni...He must have made the biggest call even though a bit audacious Hats off Link to comment

talksport
Yeah, 20 Overs of Power Plays might make a case for Laxman at No. 3 But with his week knees, we should move on ! Life is not always fair Link to comment
jalebi33
He's one of the most popular and marketable players on the team, but I'm not sure how much actual influence he has, especially compared to the Big 3. He IS rightfully being groomed to lead India after the upcoming wave of retirements. Dhoni is the leader of the ODI team, but he still has a lot to prove in the Test arena. Link to comment

satishg
Dhoni is a street smart cricketer and he knows wat it takes to be a winner..otherwise with his technique he wudnt have survived so long..so i thing his smartness comes into picture even in his captaincy..RD was not pulling his weight in the ODI series against the aussies and he dropped him..similarly dada has not been performing all that well in the recent ODIs so he's now being dropped..and dhoni has been performing well as a captain and a player in the ODIs..so u have to respect his decisions and support him..i think he is taking india towards the right path.. Gambit
Props to Dhoni. If he wants to handpick his own team, let him. After all, Dada fought with the selectors to have Bhajji included for that historic 2001 series. If Dhoni doesn't want SRT/RD/Gangs, don't select them. Trust the captain. Link to comment

sandtest
Can anyone produce some statistics showing Dhonis average in last 5 test matches?? It seems, with the support of never ending sponsor list he is increasingly trying to mould himself as some next "Godfather" of Indian playing 11. First long hair, then short hair, overdose of sponsors has made him, undesrvedly high, he needs to to be brough down to earth. As far as a wicketkeepr-batsman for Test matches are concerned, how Dinesh Karthik or Parthiv Patel are any less than Dhoni?? -- except that they have no sponsor backing?? Link to comment
