Mr. Wicket Posted February 24, 2008 Posted February 24, 2008 gambhir should be made a permanent no.3 batsman. he looks more comfortable@3. also' date=' gambhir plays spinners including muralitharan really well where he tends to struggle a bit against pacers sometimes at the start of his innings[/quote'] Agree. He's probably the best player of spin in the middle order, and very good at rotating the strike. I still am unconvinced by him as an opener, but as a no.3/MO batsman, he's really been very impressive this tour.
S.R.Tendulkar Posted February 24, 2008 Posted February 24, 2008 I think he scored the most runs for Indian in this series so far..I think not sure. He will come good in ODI's I believe.
Cricketics Posted February 24, 2008 Author Posted February 24, 2008 cricketics' date=' I said the same about GG before you did :P[/quote'] yaar bhai this thread was just another thread before series.. been supporting Gambhir from yearz now.. good some criticiz are finally realizing..
bharat297 Posted February 25, 2008 Posted February 25, 2008 Well done Cricketics ... I would not have backed Gambhir's technique against Lee and Bracken in the early overs, but hats off to you.
King Tendulkar Posted February 25, 2008 Posted February 25, 2008 wtf. I was the first to back him, shall I bump the thread? I got slaughtered at time!
16 str8 Posted February 25, 2008 Posted February 25, 2008 He looks like a very exciting batsmen. From what I saw it was on excellent innings last night.
Sachinism Posted February 25, 2008 Posted February 25, 2008 lol @ everyone arguing about who backed him 1st to tell you the truth, there werent many doubters of gambhir, like whenever i discussed cricket with friends, no1 ever felt he wasnt good enough and everyone felt he completely deserved his spot there were times when gambhir was left out of the team for no reason
Cricketics Posted February 25, 2008 Author Posted February 25, 2008 Mr.cc1981 Aka Bongasamaj Is Welcome Good luck Gambo..i think you are going to be dogfood in Australia and later on vs South Africa( if the selectors are dumb enough to select you for the Tests that is). thatz what he had to say about Gautam Gambhir.. modz don't merge this thread with that Gautam Gambhir thread.. may be later after 1 week.. Bongasamaj, where u @ mate??
Tapioca Posted February 25, 2008 Posted February 25, 2008 Let him who hath never got a cricketing prediction wrong cast the first stone.
cochise Posted February 25, 2008 Posted February 25, 2008 Predictions are okay...this fella even got his dogfood wrong. That's quite an effort!
talksport Posted February 25, 2008 Posted February 25, 2008 Cut him some slack...Thats not his original. He just joined the bandwagon and went overboard:D
King Tendulkar Posted February 25, 2008 Posted February 25, 2008 Let him who hath never got a cricketing prediction wrong cast the first stone. Well thats me then! He got it wrong and should have backed gambhir! Egg on face!
PaiN_KiLLeR Posted February 25, 2008 Posted February 25, 2008 I had not expected him to succeed in Australia either. Full marks to the Delhi boy for coming up with 2 outstanding centuries when the team were in deep trouble.
Cricketics Posted February 26, 2008 Author Posted February 26, 2008 yet ANOTHER YET ANOTHER YET ANOTHER 50 When team needz.. he standz up again. WHAT A PLAYER.. GAUTAM GAMBHIR IS THE NAME.. RESPECT FOLKZ
Anakin Posted February 26, 2008 Posted February 26, 2008 I'm greatly satisfied to be proved wrong about GG. Well done.
Predator_05 Posted February 26, 2008 Posted February 26, 2008 I'd like to see him play a bit straighter. He is always looking to play very square of the wicket - a bit one dimensional in his approach. Thankfully he has developed the patience to leave balls outside off and his shot selection is much better than it was before, so this flaw isn't quite as apparent. If he can learn to play straighter (it's not that hard to make such an adjustment) and curb his insticts a bit, he will be a top class batsman.
Willow_on_fire Posted February 26, 2008 Posted February 26, 2008 Gambir appreciation thread Gambir has played so well against the Aussies...I wish he does well in the finals as well and hopefully gets the MOS...:two_thumbs_up:
