We can't compare a rookie, who is playing first time with seniors, with a veteran T20 player.

 

Moreover, Karthick's field placements to the 2 young quick bowlers was not suitable. This made them change their normal lengths and speeds. Most commentators, and especially Clark, was highly critical of this.

 

It is not possible for a rookie to bowl hard lengths unless he is given the field for it.

 

It was highly commendable that Mavi came back strongly ...  and gave away just 14 runs in his last 2 overs and bounced out Sodhi.

Lots of 144 k to  148 k balls.

 

Hit the deck very hard and got good bounce.

Those were 70s and 80s. Transition from caps to helmet. It was a matter of pride to wear a hat. Also, you practiced growing up without a helmet so your technique was different.

 

This one the other hand was late 1990s, where helmet was a must and as you know Ponting wore a helmet most of the time.

I think Mike Brearley was the first guy I saw introducing helmet. Sunny would don a cap here and there but he had very thick black hair. No one had helmets at that time.

Shivam Mavi was bowling lots of 144 k to 146 k deliveries in the knockout IPL match vs SRH.  

 

Returned with figures of 1 for 33 in 4 overs on a pitch where Bhuvi , Prasidh and Russel went for runs. Could have had 2 more wickets but for dropped catches.

 

He gets steep bounce with some deliveries and swing with some deliveries. This twin ability is so good to have. 

 

Really liking his bowling.
