His weakness against quality spin exposed ruthlessley by Mendis today. All over him before he knocks over his leg stump!:cantstop:
Wow. Yes, our batting lineup bashed Mendis up when we visited Sri Lanka in July last year. He only got a record 26 wickets in his debut series (in a 3 test match one!) - he could've gotten 60 had it not been for our brilliant performance.

He averages 12 when touring the best team he has had to face in is era. Just like players of now are judged how they do against aussies in oz and players of 70s and 80s were judged how they did in windies, so aussies must be judged how they do against the toughest tour for them in cricket. This of course is aginst India the 2nd best team of this era. He averages a pathetic 12 in India, so he is clearly not that great! And quite possibly a FTB!
he is all at sea againist quality spin attack and on turning tracks...fast vowling he is very good...or on aussie wickets he is good mendi made him look like a class 10 hockey player holding the bat for the 1st time..... australians compare him with sachin tendulkar.....even steve waugh and hayden are better than ponting

Appreciating Mendis for his wickets would've been fine. But making fun of Ponting (after all, this is the only the first time he's facing Mendis) when our own batsmen came up short is not on. Regardless, let the thread continue in its path.

Everyone makes a magical debut but fade away when they dont know how to improvise. Let India face Lanka in Semis or finals and we will know what our batsmen are capable of. FYI our batsmen play spin a lot better than others (except Yuvi maybe). Nothing wrong in pwning the Punter for all the talk he has done!

For sure, we've played Mendis well in the one days (and I can actually say pwned in the recently concluded one), but in the test matches where he has a lot of time to set us up, we still have not proved (granted we have not had a chance to prove it either since July). Plus, like I said earlier in the thread, making fun of Ponting for all his BS talks is perfectly fine. But our first exposure to Mendis yielded him the figures of 6/13 in a One Day. So making fun of him and calling him Mendis' ***** is incorrect and dumb (IMO). Plus, Ponting has never been that great against spinners. We're supposedly the best players of spin in the world, but we failed too. So keeping that in mind, it is an incorrect attack on his batsmanship.

mendis hasnt played australia in test series yet so lets wait before we make the comparison indian batsmen knew nothing about him whenthey first played him now, there is no secret every1 knows what he can do and australia still looked clueless against him india looked comfortable against mendis in the last odi series in case u dont remember. they were leading 5 match odi series 4-0. mendis bowling record in this series was 5 wickets at avg of 39 lolz

That's okay - we'll just stick to making phun of Ponting and his team's continuous screw ups against any kind of spin, in all formats over the last 10 months.

On the other hand, that might mean Mendis had a fluke series, while we all know how great Punter is against spin, so it is very much on.

Barring Sehwag and to a certain extent, Gambhir - no one has picked him very quickly. Even then, Sehwag/Gambo needed a couple of matches to get a good look at him. And Sehwag's a freak - so he doesn't count :P

So you are saying ponting is mediocre against spin. Basically you agree with me. Also his record against swing/seaming ball as in england is also mediocre. Thus I conclude Ponting is mediocre

Yes, I agree with you if you are claiming that Ponting is mediocre against spinners. But I will not agree if you say that he's Mendis' ***** based on one showing (not that you said it).
