King Tendulkar
^ Great innings! However keep in mind Tests are totally different. Dunno why u keep "mixing" the two. He has always been good in ODIs and T20. But Test is a different type of game. well if he had the run dhoni has had you never know could have delivered in tests. dhoni was never dropped despite poor year or 2. Although granted dhoni is a keeper as well. Shame he never delivered in tests. Not sure he ever will Link to comment

It is a temperament thing for Yuvi - he needs to sort it out in his mind, and score a lot of runs in domestic 4 days and India-A matches (4 days) - then he can get a call up. Link to comment
Ram
On flat wickets, Yuvraj is THE most murderous batsman one can hope. With 99.99% of ODI pitches deliberately prepared flat, he is bound to score runs. Amazing hitting. Not many can hit the likes of Harmsion, Flintoff like he did. These are genuine 90 mph bowlers.... bharat297
It was a very good innings from Yuvraj. No one is denying Yuvraj's talent. He is a slogger who can time the ball very well which makes him extra dangerous. However, the question mark will always remain over his technique in tests. His initial front foot movement puts him in a very good position to pick up the length early, which is why he pulls pretty well. He combines it with a high backlift and when given width this enables him to play the cover drive in a very balanced position. However, when playing the ball back straight , on occassions he doesnt bring the bat down straight, which is why he has been susceptible to sideways movement (whether it be spin or swing). Now, thats not to say he should never be in the Test team but he needs to fix that up if he is going to succeed in Tests because technical weaknesses get exposed in Test cricket much more than they do in ODI cricket. Thats why its the hardest form of the game. Link to comment
cochise
People used to talk about Sehwag not having the technique for tests....natural ability and success at it will trump the best technique and all the analysis... Link to comment

ludhianvi
Yuvi the man, amazing shots by him. Seemed to hit 4s and 6s by will. HOW did he hit that boundary over Flintoff's head WITHOUT ANY FOLLOW-THROUGH ? follow throughs are over-rated.. He has a massive bat swing prior to the bat hitting the ball and little transfer of weight may also help. Link to comment
HouMac
When on song Yuvraj is probably the most fun batsman to watch in cricket and has been so for a good 3 years. He's naturally talented, ridiculously strong and has all the shots in the book(which he plays with Lara-like class). Pity his technique is so susceptible to the seaming ball and even more so against front line spinners. With 2 major flaws like that he can't ever be a consistent Test player. Yuvraj's got no one but his own self to blame for not being in the Test team. He's been given plenty of chances...yet continued to make the same mistakes. I'll continue to enjoy him as much as possible in ODIs. Link to comment

He has a massive bat swing prior to the bat hitting the ball and little transfer of weight may also help. That's true. Maybe it was a consequence of lower back-pain impeding the full swing of the bat; it must have been hurting him a lot at the end of his innings. What shocked me was the sheer power he managed to generate even without the follow through - the ball still raced away at the speed of knots. Not everyone can do that. Link to comment
King Tendulkar
If he piles on the runs in this odi series. Will he jump to the head of the cue to replace ganguly. He could make himself an automatic pick if he carries on like this. Link to comment

He is definitely going to put up a stack of runs - 400+ would be my guess, assuming he plays most of these matches. Whether this actually gets him into the test side isn't something that's clear at the moment, but we all know how highly the team (especially Dhoni) rates him so don't be surprised if he gets picked.
