One can easily download a virus if he/she is not careful(or aware), the quality is often horrible and unless you really know your music you can get a cover version easily(which you realize only after you download). Plus of course it is illegal and in my opinion unethical. You may want to try the BMG music group label where you pay for 1 CD and get 12 other free, all legal of course. You are supposed to buy one featured CD always. May be there are better deals now.

If some of you are paranoid about torrents and music, you can check out other venues such as rapidshare or usenet. There is no p2p on these services but for these you may need to pay. Well for rapidshare, you can download like one file/24 hour or something.

Its a good deal in the sense you can get some real good albums at a bargain of a price. As an example you can get top hits of Abba, Bee Gees, The Police, Eagles, Bryan Adams etc etc all for the cost of 1 CD, cant go wrong with that. Heck the U2 Joshua Tree album is worth 100 bucks in itself(not that you have to spend that much!), possibly the greatest album of all times and its right there in the list. Do bear in mind that groups like Abba/U2 had almost all their songs are good and great, quite different from today where you had 1-2 songs that can be genuinely classified as great. I had used them a while back, for a couple of years and got some good bargain. But as Shwetabh mentioned dont let it be your one-stop. Then again I would hope downloading would be your one-stop access to English songs either.

Another major thing is the fakes uploaded by various companies and institutions. If you open software like PeerGuardian and run a torrent client, you can see the institutions which are hitting your IP. Also most strict laws in US are for music piracy.

I dont save anything on Hard drive .. plus the anti virus are better at work .. :hatsoff:
