Will KL Rahul make it count in the 2nd innings?

This current innings by Rahul and Pant is the definition of the word "Intent," which is the buzzword the Kohli-Shastri duo throw around for their plan for Test cricket. Even if these two don't pull off the chase, and while people are correct it is a dead rubber on a flat track, these are terrific innings by these two. It is is interesting that one can get an insight into how Kohli's mind works in terms of how he views how test batting should be. This is also why Dhawan gets selected, even though he is a consistent failure overseas thus far. He is also viewed as having the ability to show this kind of intent. (This is also why players like Vijay and Pujara get dropped, as they can't play this way).

The problem arises from the question of whether this type of batting can work outside of flatter surfaces. If it can, should we drop Pujara as well and replace him with a player who can show this type of "Intent"? If not, then should we drop players who thus far don't show much defensive technique and scour domestics for more traditional grind-it-out Test batsmen?  Or does a mixture of the two work?

Keyword , one can always rotate the strike, even defensive players can do this

Playing late isn't a bad thing. But KL Rahul hasn't been playing late, he's not even ready in his stance by the time the bowler's at the top of his bowling mark. And that is a sign of lacking confidence.

Well, Looks like it was lack of confidence only. Honestly, he should have someone to resolve this issue

Agreed about most of your analysis. But Rahul is a proven domestic first class player, and he came in to the test team first on the basis of his first class exploit and not in odi or t 20 ,based on flash in the pan performance in ipl. However he definitely needs to be more consistent and most of the point which you put is quite true wrt kohli.

I counted well over a dozen occasions in this last inning where the bowler had almost started loading up for his action before Rahul even looked up. Beyond shocked that nobody has noticed this and highlighted it for him.

Compare and contrast it with someone like Kohli who's eyeballing the bowler from the moment he starts running in.

Yes man. I was really hoping a lot of runs from him. Sorely disappointed. But then again, Seriously, if rookie fans can pick it from body language, why cant team management, and give him the help he needs

What is happening is these multi format players  bring bad habits of t20 into Tets matches . Hence quality of test batsmanship is going down .

Every cannot adjust kike VK.
