veer Posted February 26, 2008 Posted February 26, 2008 we were folding opponents under 200 consistently (with exception of last match.. ) please preserve our bowlers.. specially RP and Ishant..
Ram Posted February 26, 2008 Posted February 26, 2008 Yup. This is the strongest battery of pace bowlers we have ever had.
sandeep Posted February 26, 2008 Posted February 26, 2008 hang on, ishant duly cleaned up craperara and SL was coasting after that - its praveen kumar bhaiyyaji bowling well under the conditions and the $hitty batting by SL that led them to fold under 200. Let's not get too carried away now.
King Tendulkar Posted February 26, 2008 Posted February 26, 2008 Yes this is a very good thread. Good point. Shows how much better our bowlers are now with our battery of pacers. Also how much better our fiedling is we seem to take so many of our chances now and dont drop many. We are serious bowling/fielding unit now. The best we have ever had. We really are capable of skittling teams out now and actually do
varun Posted February 26, 2008 Posted February 26, 2008 To answer the OP: We did quite well in 2003 with regards to getting the opposition out on low scores. +------+--------------+----------+-------+ | year | Op 250 | Ratio | +------+--------------+----------+-------+ | 2003 | 12 | 4 | 3.00 | | 1988 | 7 | 3 | 2.33 | | 1993 | 4 | 2 | 2.00 | | 2008 | 2 | 1 | 2.00 | | 1995 | 3 | 2 | 1.50 | | 1999 | 12 | 11 | 1.09 | | 1991 | 4 | 4 | 1.00 | | 1975 | 1 | 1 | 1.00 | | 1990 | 1 | 1 | 1.00 | | 1983 | 4 | 4 | 1.00 | | 2001 | 7 | 8 | 0.88 | | 1986 | 4 | 5 | 0.80 | | 2006 | 6 | 9 | 0.67 | | 1994 | 4 | 6 | 0.67 | | 1997 | 4 | 7 | 0.57 | | 2005 | 7 | 13 | 0.54 | | 1998 | 7 | 14 | 0.50 | | 1996 | 6 | 12 | 0.50 | | 1987 | 2 | 5 | 0.40 | | 2007 | 5 | 17 | 0.29 | | 2002 | 5 | 17 | 0.29 | | 2004 | 4 | 14 | 0.29 | | 2000 | 5 | 18 | 0.28 | | 1989 | 1 | 5 | 0.20 | +------+------------+----------+-------+
Rohan495 Posted February 26, 2008 Posted February 26, 2008 Indian bowling should be rotational Since there is a lot of good young bowling talent, the likes of Zaheer, RP, Ishant, Irfan, Sreesanth, Munaf, Praveen Kumar. This will make Indian bowlers worry about their bowling a lot more. No player should just be dumped.
mhr123 Posted February 26, 2008 Posted February 26, 2008 Munaf looks Lifeless (Bejaan - maara huaa) when he bowls... and u hardly see him enjoying his bowling or at least making an effort .
The Outsider Posted February 26, 2008 Posted February 26, 2008 Varun, in 2003 we played quite a few minnow matches in the WC which might affect those numbers. Moreover, bowling out teams for less than 220 in modern ODIs is a whole different proposition than 10 years back. But yes, 2003 was a superb year for our bowlers with all the pacers on fire.
Zakhmi Posted February 26, 2008 Posted February 26, 2008 Praveen seems to be a medium-pacer, right? whats his speed, if anyone knows here?
Kartikey Posted February 26, 2008 Posted February 26, 2008 U cant drop them if they're playing well, that would disrupt their rythm. But yes if its a big series like this one, do what Aus did with Brett Lee.
eternalhope Posted February 26, 2008 Posted February 26, 2008 Praveen seems to be a medium-pacer, right? whats his speed, if anyone knows here? He is in the 120 - 130 kph range
