bevan struggled against the short ball. one of the wonders of australian cricket.. dominated first class like no other.. dominated ODI.. yet struggled in tests.

by dominating first class, i mean setting records. even when he was 35 i think ? he scored 1464 runs in a first class season at an average of 97 with 8 centuries playing for tasmania. australias version of graeme hick i suppose.

lehmann didnt look pretty but he did his job. definitely didnt look pretty :haha: prolific scorer at state level as well. australia had a few through the nineties and into early 2000's because it was very hard to break into the australian team

Bevan's exit was a silent one, wasn't it ? I mean his retirement was not given as much attention as Gilly's, Warne's, Pigeon's. Am I right in saying this ?

probably yeh. if he had gone out when still in the one day team, im sure it would have been big. but he carried on in first class cricket for a while.. retired last year. no one has forgotten him though ! ;)

Interestingly Bevan figures frequently only in relatively small chases (not in the 275+, 300+ chasses as much). Its understandable as he bats at 7 & the Aussie batting lineup more often than not took care of the job.

>ts understandable as he bats at 7 & the Aussie batting lineup more often than not took care of the job. or may be he was not good enough to finish of chases that required more than run a ball in last dozen overs

Sachin Odi career is as impressive as his test Career which is not in the case of Lara he was great early in ODI career but late stages he was never dominant like Sachin , there are far more better odi players than lara like Jayasuriya, Ganguly , Ricky and also INZI.Sachin is close to number 1 in both forms thats why India relies more on Sachin than What West indies did in later stages of Lara's Career. Thats why his lack of Success in chasing is very import cause for concern for India.
