Norman Posted June 23, 2019 Posted June 23, 2019 Honestly , our batting yesterday was one of the worst I've saw us play in a world cup game. Took me back to 2007 Bangla game . 224 was never enough even if it's against Afghanistan. But the way our bowlers won the game speaks a lot about their mental fortitude. They believe they can defend anything against anyone. Don't know who should I credit this for, but the way our players go on so calm and cool even under extreme pressure is commendable. Maybe the IPL ...... Playing in front of packed stadia under severe pressure have made them hard as a rock. Even when, Rahmat and Shahidi were going on smoothly , no-one on our side looked flustered or worried. And even when Nabi was threatening to take the game away from us hitting a few lusty blows , Bumrah kept his cool and delivered yorker after yorker with pin point precision. And even when first ball of the last over went for four , the way Shami came back with that hattrick was phenomenal. Even Dhoni and Jadhav when playing bucket loads of dot balls against spinners were looking as if they feel "we've got this. Nothing to worry about. " Indo-pak games used to make even the best of our players to lose their cool. But the way these guys play them these days, makes us feel like they're playing some Zimbabwe or Hong Kong. My point is , we can trust this team to turn things around , even when the going gets tough , when the pressure is on. Because, they believe in themselves and their abilities. It just gives a sense of security to us fans. For example, yesterday ...even when it seemed logically like we're going to lose , something kept telling me that they'll pull things back and eventually come out on top. If not for those dreadful no-balls , we would have won the last two ICC events. (for someone who may ask why didn't we win anything if we played well under pressure). So , thank you IPL , BCCI or COA and our sports psychologist if we have one. Tendulkar1996, AK007, jf1gp_1 and 1 other 4
zen Posted June 23, 2019 Posted June 23, 2019 Bowlers have been doing a good job .... some of the guys are experienced so it could be like just another game for them .... some of the youngsters are confident ..... some may have taken AFG lightly
jf1gp_1 Posted June 23, 2019 Posted June 23, 2019 lovely post. We have won few close games of late that you need to give credit to whomever is responsible for it.
kubrickian Posted June 23, 2019 Posted June 23, 2019 (edited) Bowling effort was great. Its never easy under pressure to defend a much below par score against a weaker side and that too in WC. Most bowling sides from India in the past wouldnt have won the game. Honestly Indian batsmen messed up in last 10 overs and didnt know how to handle Afg spinners who used the conditions well. There was absolutely nothing in the pitch for our bowlers yesterday, but still they kept their heads down , and did the job with a belief that they "can".
Norman Posted July 10, 2019 Author Posted July 10, 2019 Apologies for this thread. These guys are just not made for winning big events.
