Even quickfire 40 would have wrested the initiative. Rohit Rahul ( Regrettably ) Pant Kohli Karthik Pandya Dhoni Maybe Pant can open. That’s the only possibility I see. But with the hitting abilities in such serious doubt India has no choice but to go back to traditional pinch hitting mode.

But with the hitting abilities in such serious doubt India has no choice but to go back to traditional pinch hitting mode. move pant to open and jadhav at 4 (he can't bat anywhere below 5 since he lacks the power game). klr is better off playing in t20 mode at 6 instead of playing like a nervous insect at opening. have dhongi at 6 (because we can't get rid of him) and pandya at 7; use pandya as floater.

Dhawan for freewheeling character. In his absence I think Pant can play that role. We need Kaluwithana at this point. RAZPOR and nitinbwj 1 1
