Back then Ian Harvey was the best slow(er) ball bowler in LO, in tests slower ones were rarely used but I'm sure there were better/more effective exponents than Cairns. As an A/R though he was the best since the famed quartet retired in the 90's & better than overrated Flintoff for sure, a true A/R like Stokes. Nikola 1

I ofcourse didn't watch him live but just heard he had one of the best slower balls. All i saw was highlights on youtube and agreed that he might be one of the best of his era for bowling slower balls.
Tattieboy Posted July 2, 2019 Posted July 2, 2019 The best slower ball bowler was a guy called Franklyn Stephenson, a West Indian who is regarded as best West Indian never to play a Test although he did play in the rebel tour of South Africa and was banned . He was bowling slower balls before they became fashionable and many a batsman were ducking Yorkers .
