the matter is closed with Roy fined 30% of his match fees and 2 demerit points .... though it was clearly a bad call by the umpire

Yes ,He was just being Abusive .I believe that was the main reason for the fine .

 

Imagine sub continent player doing that with a umpire.He will be given 3 demerits points and outright ban

He was stupid to be fighting that long.. Not worth the risk when a win was in the bag an a WC final coming next match..

A one-match ban would have been disastrous..

Roy is fined, OK, but what about the stupidity by the umpire ?  Roy was close to a big accomplishment, a match winning ton in WC semi final and was denied by not even a close wrong decision, it was a blunder committed by the umpire, no fine to him ?
