For those who are surprised at animal sacrifice in temples, you must be an high class Indian living in the city, and probably also a bhramin. It happens all the time is temples in villages. They do it in temple festivals, they do it so that their wishes come true.

You see...in 1942, my dad was scheduled to go to the Boeing school of aeronautics in San Diego. 2 weeks before his ship left, the Japanese invaded Malaysia...Penang, where he was...and he joined the INA. Instead of going to San diego, he was cadet number 5, in the Imperial Military Academy of Japan, Tokyo. And he carried Netajis ashes to the Renkoji temple in Japan after the transport he was in was shot down in Taiwan by P-51 Mustangs. History just sort of happens, doesn't it?

How many of you havent eaten a piece of meat in your life ? Does that not amount to (approval of) killing an animal ? You have to see the incident in the context of the circumstances. Prolly, Dhoni was told such a sacrifice is good for his career ? May be having grown up seeing such sacrifices he thought it wasnt particularly offensive ? If we take offense to this ritual, we should also take offense to killing animals for their meat. Essentially thats tantamount to treating every 2nd or 3nd person you come across (meat eater) as a barbarian.

bear23 Posted March 12, 2008 Posted March 12, 2008 If i am not mistaken he must have visited the temple at Rajrappa. The Chhinamastika Temple is a very sacred and popular place of Hindu pilgrimage. The temple is very old and its architectural design is the same as that of other temples of tantrik importance. As the name "Chhinamastika" suggests --> chopping off the head. I remember once visiting this temple when i was maybe 5 or 6 years old. Animal sacrifice is practiced here on a large scale. For people who do not know the history of the bihar, west bengal region, this was a common practice in most temples but has slowly been rooted out. Still a few such temples remain .

Hey Cochise...i am sure you would be proud of your dad..who got a chance to be Near the Great Leader.. He is my Idol...and i try to emulate few of his qualities ... although i am Bihari..but stayed in Bengal during my childhood..so i have inculcated many bengali things in my life.. although my mind says that Netaji died in plane crash...but my heart always say that he survived to see the indian independence... tragic end of a great soul..

To think that he can get success, by taking the life of another being - not food, but wanting success by taking the life of another being - that is DESPICABLE! Absolutely horrific act. Yes, traditionz may exist in villages etc. But MSD has the brains to think before commiting a deplorable act.

But how is it any different from food. It is not that man can't live without taking meat. Many take meat because they like the taste. If thats not wrong, neither his this. And knowing these rituals, they most probably ate the goat.
