Not to mention the population explosion. Bangladesh ppp per capita is 4500 India ppp per capita is 8000 The rate at which currently both india n bd growing in population and gdp india will not be overhauled. Bd are not growing at 10 to 12%. Forget about india, let bd first overhaul pakistan who are at 6000.
G_B_ Posted September 5, 2019 Posted September 5, 2019 Just looked at the population growth rates of India and Bangladesh. Both are growing at the same pace in % terms. around 1% for BD and 1.10% for India. These are UN numbers. A decade ago BD was growing by around 1.10% and India 1.20%. So its fair to say that both India and BD are in the same bracket when it comes to population growth. So where exactly does @Stan AF get this population "explosion" when it comes to India but not Bangladesh. The population density in BD is square km is much higher than India. (nearly 3 times as much) Bangladesh is expected as per the world bank to grow by 7.6% this fiscal. So per capita ppp per capita should be 4500(1.066) will be their ppp capita near year. So around 4800 per year. Net addition is 300. India is expected to grow by 6% this year (i am taking the most conservative estimates as of now). 8000(1.049) will be their ppp capita per year. So around 8500. Net addition is 500. So put bluntly for BD to catch upto India they need double digit growth and india needs to keep growing at the same rate. This needs to be maintained for a decade or more. *These are back of the envelope calculations Laaloo 1
