At the age of 33 and with that giant plushie frame, Dube is not going to add any pace, so I think his bowling days are over. He is a bit of a liability in the field too. He should be treated as a pure batter from here on, alongside Tilak and Rinku. Reddy, who is 10 years younger, can be considered for the second pace bowling allrounder spot. In fact, Reddy was the ahead of Dube in the T20I pecking order until he got injured during the England home series last year. Dube replaced him and made a stunning comeback. Dube is clutch and shows up when needed. Reddy hasn't shown anything with the bat yet after his MCG knock. Unless Reddy improves his batting he's nowhere near replacing Dube.
Gollum Posted April 16 Posted April 16 Nobody has devalued Indian cap more than SKY. Imagine playing this loser in a home ODI WC and giving him a test debut in BGT against Lyon, Starc, Cummins, Hazlewood...when Sarfu had to wait for 5+ years despite setting Ranji on fire. Nikalo is bandar ko Indian team se, he and his weird faces, only thing he has been doing, that too as Indian captain.Batting mein toh saale se 10 run nahi bante. Ultimate_Game 1

Worst player who has played so long and hands down the least deserving Indian captain when much more deserving players and potential captains like Iyer are sidelined. Gollum 1

Can't always win with 10 men no matter how good the team is. GG is being pig-headed in demanding that Shunya be persisted with till 28 WC. I can see us faltering in one or both the mega events that year if he has his way. The squad we have, we should win gold in LA and the WC in Aus, anything short of that is unforgivable. And the ODI team is too long in the tooth with a bunch of has beens like Rohit, Kohli, Jadeja, KL Rahul and headed by the useless captain Gill. We aren't winning anything unless changes are made the way we did in T20 by replacing Gill with Samson. Gollum 1
StraightDrive26 Posted April 17 Posted April 17 T20 is young mans game and SKY is 36 years old. It is time GG lets go of his ego and thanks SKY for his service and lets him go. If India do not utilise the great talent which is coming through in this format, they will be the ultimate losers. The team also wasted couple of months trying out Gill in T20Is, surely because of GG. Luckily he was let go. Now we have so many young players doing well, it would be better to form a team under Iyer for the next WC. I don't like Gambhir as Indian national team coach and he is going to destroy other formats as well like he did with tests if the board does not make a bold call.
Ultimate_Game Posted April 17 Posted April 17 Mods, please change the title of this thread and replace Dube with SKY. SKY is the most hyped player in the history of Indian cricket and the least deserving Indian captain.

We'll definitely need a 6th bowler in the playing 11. Going by recent performances, that 6th bowler won't be Dube. I reckon Dube will be treated as a specialist batter and compete for the two middle-order batters spots with Tilak and Rinku. Apart from Reddy, I can't think of anyone else who fits the role of "top 7 batter who can be a reliable 6th bowler" in the current setup. Riyan Parag doesn't bowl enough and Washington Sundar's batting doesn't fit the Indian T20 team template.

I would back Harshit Rana to bat better than Reddy. Unless Reddy improves his batting or becomes a full time bowler, he can't get into the Indian team.
