AuxiliA Posted April 12, 2020 Posted April 12, 2020 Sehwag is a must have, in all formats, for all-time India XIs. Technical shortcomings not withstanding, the guy was unique. We have so many run machines in the lineup who will provide consistency. We could afford/need a swashbuckler like Sehwag. Sehwag Sharma Tendulkar Kohli Yuvraj Dhoni (c) wk Kapil Kumble Kuldeep/Harbhajan Shami Bumrah
Gollum Posted April 12, 2020 Posted April 12, 2020 Ganguly Sachin Kohli/Dravid depending on pitch Gambhir UV Dhoni (wk, c) Kapil Pathan Shami/Bhuvi Bumrah Siva/Kuldeep Guys like Zak, Srinath, Kumble, Agarkar, Harbhajan were poor against poyzzzz, some also carried scars. One specialist spinner is enough, lot of part time options. Excluded Rohit because Wasim would get him LBW/bowled for fun, same with Sehwag. Dada was very good against them both with bat and ball. We must bat deep against their strong bowling line up, Dravid at #3 if it is a 220 pitch, otherwise VK. Gambo to tackle Saqlain. For them: Anwar Kamran (wk) Abbas Miandad Inzi Imran (c) Razzaq Wasim Shoaib Aaqib (over Waqar who was relatively poor against us) Saqlain Yousuf, Ijaz, the 2 Maliks, Babar just miss out. Surprising choice is Kamran Akmal as opener, he enjoyed playing against us and being keeper opens up a spot. Must say the Indian side looks more well balanced, Pak bowling firepower is impressive. Indian ATG bowling is more bolstered compared to Pak ATG batting. We are stronger on paper but Pak batsmen know how to negate Indian bowling...they are good against spin and we don't have a quick who can run through their side. Still we should narrowly edge them, 3 or 5 match series can't call but if we play 20 Ind will prevail 11-9.
Gollum Posted April 12, 2020 Posted April 12, 2020 (edited) For most of late 90s and early 00s Dada was our MVP against Pak. I think he got 4 consecutive MOMs against them in the 90s in Toronto, a series which we won 4-1. Edited April 12, 2020 by Gollum
