Maybe the place is Mandya but people from there are Mandyans....like Mumbai/Mumbaikar, Amdavad/Amdavadi, Chennai/Chennaiite :dontknow:

I stand corrected, you were right with Mandyam to begin with. It is not a reference to the place, more to do with the sect.

To be super precise, it should be Mandayam Iyengars, not Mandyam.

 

ಮಂಡಯಂ   not   ಮಂಡ್ಯಂ

 

The place of course is ಮಂಡ್ಯ
