What is the rush to bring in Rohit for the 3rd test?

At worst new players will do the same but atleast there is a chance they ll do better.

Just look at how shubhman completly changed the match.

 

I do like backing up players but not when they have appearent technical fault and are not contributing at all.

Even 30 from either rahul/rohit can turn the match.

 

Btw kohli was criticised for dropping successful players from tours and this is not same as these 2 arent performing at all.

When does one back a player then? When he makes a big score? When a person struggles, there could be a variety of reasons including technical flaws. Doesn’t mean they can’t sort it out. Also dead weight is a bad term. It is very rare that all 11 fire in a game. A team wins a game together. Re: Kohli, I don’t think that he would drop a player who was red hot. He wants to win too. Even if you dislike the guy, lets just say that his brand value increases if his team wins. So, in the end, it’s a judgement call on whether it is appropriate to drop a player after a couple of games. Shaw was mentally out of it. Agarwal and Vihari didn’t check out in the same way. But, I do agree that it is possible that Rahul and Rohit score more. In that case, we should argue that chop/ change is actually good. Creates competition and forces people to perform. And, we would also have to conclude that maybe there aren’t big differences between Rahane and Kohli on this issue. 3 games spread out is a small sample. We will definitely find more answers when this series ends.

I get your point but when to back players?

Sure backing up is good but back them up once the atleast score 30 once in 4 innings.

 

Also back players that play a postive knock once and then fails in next match completely.

 

Also dont mind backing them up in lesser important series like away SL,WI,BD or when series isnt on line.

 

If india wins next match then we can ,in no way lose the series thus we can back these players on 4th match but if we lose next match then we ll most likely fold in 4th as well.

 

When our single win in Aus is valued this much then series win/draw shud be priority  so

Top priority :- Winning/drawing in Aus  is alot important.

Seconda priority :- backing up players that are having bad/day or series.

 

Here top priority is way more important than 2nd and while we can have any other time to back a player,series on line is definitely not that time.

 

I would sure love to see either of them prove me wrong but i just dont see them doing better in coming match and further putting rest of bats in a hole.
