asterix Posted June 23, 2021 Posted June 23, 2021 A player when retires obviously wishes to retire on a High. However any announcement linked with a Final tournament match creates unnecessary pressure on Opposition Team (Especially teams like India which are traditionally emotional and large hearted/arsed). This creates a expectation that the team of the retiree gives a fitting parting gift to the player retiring. This also forces the Opposition team to toss common sense away and making an atrocious team selection to facilitate the loss. ICC should make a rule that a player should announce retirement during any bilateral series and not use ICC tournament finals. This will ensure the ICC finals participating teams be free from any unnecessary expectations or external pressures PS: Kohli is so pathetic Captain, he won’t win a trophy even he’s announced his own retirement… Norman, maniac and Gollum 3
