Ranatunga wasn't like that from the start and such players are exceptions and the requirements for every sport are different.  Cricket is much more complicated than most of the top sports.

I didnt say cricket is more demanding. It's more complicated and difficult to master. Look at us even with that money and infrastructure, number of players, we aren't able to dominate cricket. We don't dominate any sport.

china was never formally a british colony. britain had hong kong under their control and they won the opium wars, but china was never colonized. and the USA ceased being a colony long before test cricket was played.
