Try_Ball Posted October 31, 2021 Posted October 31, 2021 (edited) I know we are all pissed , height of pessimism at this time and fully deflated but knowing our history or any subcontinent team tbh - It's cultural -unless we land on our behind, we do not tend to improve over time on our own. These losses and poor performance might spark a change. Playing in an easier group in T20 - Would you rather make it to the Semi's or at the most to the finals and lose there and Kohli makes another speech about - Boys doing well - It's just another game blah blah . We don't deserve to win the Tourney - Pure Simple - We have lost in Semis and Finals way too many times to realize that something needs to changed We lost in 2019 wc , Test Cricket Championship and now this. Kohli's captaincy and team selection isn't working - We rather lose at the group stage and bring upon a much needed and with Rahul Dravid taking over , Kohli stepping down , Yes man Shastri gone and Dhoni limited to CSK - the time is perfect for much needed changes A good loss here would help us get rid of past performances and legacy picks like Sharma, Shami , Pandya , Bhuvi Players like Pant , Pandya , Jadeja , Rahul - are under the hammer and put them under a microscope - Perform or Walk away - no Freebies Embrace - Siraj , Chahal , Gaikwad , DDP , Shreays Iyer , V Iyer , Ishan , SKY , Harshal , Thakur , Malik, Samad , Avesh , Mavi , Bishnoi etc One bad series loss is worth the greater good for the team Edited October 31, 2021 by Try_Ball Adi_91 1
Adi_91 Posted October 31, 2021 Posted October 31, 2021 You need a selfless captain to begin with a change. This loss isn't bad, but will VK show grace and do the right thing by stepping down from LOI captaincy altogether? That will start a transformation that is much needed.
Vijy Posted October 31, 2021 Posted October 31, 2021 No guarantee of something good coming from a poor performance. the same team that got pwned in Eng and Aus in 2011 would have been persisted with, had it not been for a few retirements. What we really need is a proper template for the future. Ideal T20 XI for any country is as follows IMO: Batter 1 (consolidator), Batter 2 (140+ SR), Batter 3 (floater - double up as consolidator/aggressor), Batter 4 (play spin well and score at good SR), Batter 5 (wk) [aggressive - score at 140+ SR), All-rounder 1 (score at 150+ SR and bowl pace), All-rounder 2 (score at 150+ SR and bowl spin), All-rounder 3 (score at 150+ SR and bowl pace/spin), Bowler 1 (wrist-spin or attacking mystery spin), Bowler 2 (out-and-out pacer + PP specialist), and Bowler 3 (out-and-out pacer + death over specialist) One of top 5 must bowl to some extent. One of Bowlers 1-3 (positions 9-11) must be capable of tonking some runs, like rashid khan or southee. If we follow the template outlined above and identify correct players for correct positions, either winning or making finals of T20 WCs would be a clincher I6MTW 1
Try_Ball Posted October 31, 2021 Author Posted October 31, 2021 Losing in the Semi's and Finals and high pressure matches do not trigger changes - it maintains the status quo. Embarrassing knock-outs do - Losing out on the group stages now would at least hope to give us some changes
Suhaan Posted October 31, 2021 Posted October 31, 2021 I have been saying this will say it again, don't think the changes should be made in our t20 mindset only it has to happen in odis too, world is moving on Even SL,pak have made efforts to keep up with the pace with their cricket infrastructure at doldrums, with so much at our disposal we still are content with this middling performance in ICC events Why IPL is blamed when top performers aren't given a go even seldolmly?Tests are altogether different thing we reward Ranji,A tour performers there but when it comes to LOI cricket we are so reluctant to make an attempt to change things, big names are so powerful they are immune to critcism all blame falls on poor youngsters Kishan,SKY,Pant,Prasidh how many games have these guys played together for Team India?there is no mutual gametime understanding which develops when you play together India play less t20s anyway, the little they ply is wasted on yesteryear soopstars, come on man

Shreyas Iyer is not really convincing .Jadeja's bowling is terrible & batting is good only for CSK . Darshan Nalkande is a good option to try. Vijy 1

For me Shreyas seems to be a really bright star for the future - a very stable Middle Order batsman - after Kohli, he would be the next steady player . I thoroughly enjoy watching him steady the innings for DC many times

I thoroughly enjoy watching him steady the innings for DC many times From whatever I have watched in overseas games, he has issues against short pitch & swing bowling & is more of an accumulator .Did well to win in a few games .He still has time to sort out the issues. And may be improve his part time legspin bowling. Vijy 1
