Historical and current cricket rankings.

Was flicking through cricket historical rankings pre 2002-03 ICC rankings, interestingly India were ranked number 1 test team in 1973-74 for 15 months under wadekar, later again we achieved number 1 rankings from 80-81 for six months, Pakistan achieved number 1 test rankings as late as 1988 only for 2 months, so much for  Imran the great captain and superior bowling attacks, India again under Azhar were 1st ranked test team in 95 for 3 months, post the new ICC rankings from 2003 India have held number 1 test rank for 69 months only behind aus who held it for 91 months, Pak in the meantime were ranked 1 only for a mere 2 months since 2003.  Basically in total India have held number 1 test rankings for 93 months in total compared to pak 4 reign months only.

 

So with waqar, Wasim and akthar they still could not become the best test team in the 90s, massively overrated team, even during the 99 test championship we were ranked higher in tests, we should have won the Kolkata tests Pak were 39-6 Srinath destroyed them single handedly, while chasing we were 147-2 with Sachin looking in good touch, then came the runout when akthar purposely came in sachins way, Sachin should have barged into him and ensuring he made it back to his crease on time, the chennai test we had them struggling in the first innings and atleast 4 decisions went against us. Only if we had a abled 3rd pace option with srinath and prasad, someone who could have picked around 150 test wickets. Ankola was the guy sadly kept getting injured, our odi attack infact overachieved, even someone like Prabhakar has a superior record compared to aaqib javid, Azhar mehmood and all these overrated Pak pacers, ravi shastri retired early he could have been a very handy cricketer in the 90s with his spin bowling.

I dont need to prove anything, pretty much everyone here knows I ain't a pakistani, yhh I was quite critical of india's pace stock and we saw our performance in the current world cup, the criticism was valid, we went with 3 trundlers and the backup option to was a trundler and the results were their to be seen, currently their ain't any express pace options india can choose from except umran who is very raw. Prasidh, saini, mavi, tyagi have to step up quickly otherwise we will be outpaced even by srilanka, ishant , shami and Umesh will all decline at the same time hence Siraj and bumrah can't take on the workload on their own, need atleast 6 quality pace options to choose from at all times  if India is to remain a top three test team and finally stop tagging a 3rd person if you have something to say then say it.
