Gambhir wud come in for sure..RS wont make it coz of our middle order and even if someone is injured i think Yuvi wud come in..but RS mite be picked in the squad..and as far as jaffer is concerned he shd be a closed chapter frm now on..enuf of giving chances..v need to give chances to gambhir also..

Rohit must be selected man. Based on his temperament and his technique he could score a double maiden.
Rohan v know that after VVS u like RS but dont u think thats a bit far fetched..he has oodles of talent but u need to give him some time and not expect so much..

if he can score a century under so much pressure in t20 cricket how can u not let him have a chance. I really feel like he can score big right from day 1 of his test career. when you have waste baggage such as karthik on the team why not give sharma a chance.

Batters sure to make it for the tour: Sehwag, Dravid, Ganguly, Tendulkar, Laxman, Yuvraj, Kaif. Gambhir would probably replace Jaffer in squad...making it 8 batsmen. Yuvraj and Kaif seem to be he selecors options, as reserves, based on Kanpur test lineup. Rohit Sharma has not proved himself in the longer version, havin failed totally in the domestic 2007-08 season, but he will come in within a year as some middle order job vacancies will come up in a few months.

i would like to c these changes happening from the squad which played against sa: out: jaffer, dravid, yuvraj, munaf, powar in: gambhir, rohit sharma, raina, zaheer, pravin kumar and if harbhajans ban continues, then ojha/yusuf pathan could be considered. chawla was already there in the squad

^ Kaif was in the test squad for the last test India played, he almost played in the 11, and it was speculated it may be between Kaif and Yuvraj at Kanpur. And as he has been a big success in domestic season I think selectors will just continue their line of thinking.

YP for Tests? NO!
whats wrong in selecting yusuf pathan as the 3rd spinner after kumble & chawla. we do need to look in spin department after kumble & harbhajan. yusuf pathan has won baroda & west zone many fc matches on his spin-bowling. among spinners, yusuf pathan was the 3rd highest wicket-taker in ranji after sunil joshi & chawla and here were his stats -
Mat Overs Mdns Runs Wkts BBI BBM Ave Econ SR 5 10
7 311.3 76 757 26 5/31 10/119 29.11 2.43 71.8 3 1

My team would be: 1. Sehwag 2. Gambhir 3. Ganguly 4. Tendulkar 5. Dravid 6. Laxman 7. Dhoni 8. I. Pathan 9. Kumble 10. I. Sharma 11. Z. Khan IMO...Ganguly should be rewarded for his form against SA and previously Aust. Thus, he should move up the order. I would drop Dravid down to 5, and keep Laxman at 6. Dravid is still the wall; him an Laxman in the middle-order would be devastating. We all know what Dhoni can do, and Pathan just strengthens the lower order. Gambhir needs to come into the test side at the expense of Jaffer. I'ma big fan of Jaffer, but Gambhir needs a chance. I would have 4 specialist bowlers: 1. I. Sharma 2. Z. Khan 3. I. Pathan 4. Kumble With Ganguly and Sehwag there as back-up. Maybe Tendulkar.

My team Batsmen: 1. Sachin Tendulkar 2. Rahul Dravid 3. VVS Laxman 4. Virender Sehwag 5. Sourav Ganguly 6. Gautam Gambhir 7. Rohit Sharma 8. MS Dhoni Bowlers: 9. Anil Kumble 10. Ishant Sharma 11. Zaheer Khan 12. RP Singh 13. Ohja 14. Harbhajan(pending ban) 15. Irfan Pathan Maybe List: Piyush Chawla-Choose Ohja over him because Ohja is impressive and is a handy left arm spinner who can turn out to be India's Vettori, but Chawla has shown a lot of promise also Praveen Kumar-I would definitely be in favor of kumar rather than sreesanth. Excluded list: 1. Yuvraj Singh-Way too many chances for him, time for india to be brave there are so many batsmen that can be better test players than Yuvraj. 2. Mohammad Kaif- Due to an injury to tendulkar got called up as only a replacement. 3. S.Sreesanth-This guy is an ordinary bowler, too inconsistent at test level. 4. W. Jaffer- Do i need to say anything, yea he has two double hundreds, but has been a flop for several series in a row needs to be dropped immediately Starting 11 for the first test: 1. Gautam Gambhir 2. Virender Sehwag 3. VVS Laxman 4. Sachin Tendulkar 5. Sourav Ganguly 6. Rahul Dravid 7. MS Dhoni 8. Anil Kumble 9. Harbhajan Singh 10. Zaheer Khan 11. Ishant Sharma

More important question is how Yuvraj keeps on being selected. The guys has not been able to buy a run in any form of the game for months now.
He is the classiest and most elegant batsman in India. STOP DOUBTING HIM!

I think as long as Dhoni has some sort of say, Yuvraj will be in the mix. But I am of the opinion that Yuvraj has had more chances than Mark Ramprakash! hahahhahaha Then again, I think that Yuvraj is a much better player than Ramprakash. I might be back-tracking a bit, but I think I would still have Wasim Jaffer in the mix. I get the feeling that the selectors might be grooming Gambhir for tests.
