Why isn't there a reserve day for series matches?

If there is rain happening during a match, why don't they just postpone or reschedule it to the forthcoming day? What's the point in playing a series, only for it to get rained out at a crucial stage, and the series to be drawn?

TV viewership, for starters. A Sunday night game vs a Monday night game - which will have better viewership? Plus the logistics of accommodation, flights etc.  Of course, a game on reserve day is still better than no game at all, but time is money and fewer series will be possible if reserve day is added. Heck, even test matches have lost the rest day which used to be a standard feature back in the day..

it's because cricket is hidebound with traditions among other factors.
