Desi Cartman Posted May 23, 2008 Posted May 23, 2008 VVS should retire ASAP j/k :giggle: I think RD and SG should/will retire in the next 12-18 months VVS in 12-24 months No comments on SRt's retirement
DomainK Posted May 23, 2008 Posted May 23, 2008 SRT is in great form. He may play for another 3/4 years. Yes, RD and SG should start planning life post retirement. RD and VVS should immediately retire from limited overs cricket...but they both have the potential to carry on for a couple of years more in test cricket. SG still has a chance, he can wait and retire.
amits Posted May 23, 2008 Posted May 23, 2008 dravid - NOW ganguly - by the end of 2008 tendulkar - by 2010 & after 2011 wc in odis laxman - after aus tour in 2011. hes the youngest of the 4 dravid, ganguly & laxman should retire from odis NOW
Mr. Wicket Posted May 23, 2008 Posted May 23, 2008 I can understand SRT, RD and SG, but why are we bringing up VS now? Sehwag's got much longer in him. :D
amits Posted May 23, 2008 Posted May 23, 2008 I can understand SRT' date=' RD and SG, but why are we bringing up VS now? Sehwag's got much longer in him. :D[/quote'] i think he meant vvs(laxman), not vs(sehwag)
Mr. Wicket Posted May 23, 2008 Posted May 23, 2008 VS is more deserving of being in a 'fab four' than VVS right now...
amits Posted May 23, 2008 Posted May 23, 2008 VS is more deserving of being in a 'fab four' than VVS right now... and also more deserving than dravid & ganguly
Rohan495 Posted May 23, 2008 Author Posted May 23, 2008 VS is more deserving of being in a 'fab four' than VVS right now... Ok then that means that VVS is more deserving than Dravid and SRT.
matma Posted May 25, 2008 Posted May 25, 2008 I would hate for all 4 to retire. They are touring NZ here at the start of next year (hopefully) and I want one last time to check the fab-4 in full flow. With all this talk of retiring, as a lot of commentators do I noticed with India's tour of Aus, why do names like Ponting and Hayden etc. get chucked in the mix? If its an age thing, they should be there. Dravid, Ganguly, Laxman, Tendulkar - give me 4 names that can replace them? Yuvraj? - as much as I hate to say it, he is a ODI and T-20 player. He will never achieve the heights he SHOULD have in test cricket. Gautam? - Def a top-clas player now and for the future - he will come on strong in the next 12-18 months. Rohit Sharma? - Please, he is a great player, excellent technique. He needs at least 2 years playing at the international level, and he needs to perform in the longer version. Uthaapa? - He kinda reminds me of Yuvraj, without the elegance - ODI & T-20 player. It will be a while before he makes the test-squad. Automatic selection for ODI & T-20. Khatik? - Maybe. Just maybe. Middle-perhaps. Kaif - He will be a strong contender.
diegovegaz Posted May 28, 2008 Posted May 28, 2008 the first to retire should be saurav, by the end of 2009 vvs laxman should follow him after 1 more test series rahul dravid has 3 more yrs to go sachin too has time, 2 yrs or perhaps 3 but, my heart says that sachin shouldn't retire unless he gets 50 centuries and 100 half centureis the fab 4 shouldn't retire untill they see india as no1 ranked test playing nation Zakhmi 1
Gambit Posted May 28, 2008 Posted May 28, 2008 I'd like to see them win a test series in NZ before they leave. We haven't won there since the 60s/70s IIRC and we always come close only to blow it away.
amits Posted May 28, 2008 Posted May 28, 2008 laxman is the youngest of 4(only 33), so should be the last of the 4 to retire & should retire in a grand style after the 2011 aus series
Guest HariSampath Posted May 28, 2008 Posted May 28, 2008 Except Sachin, the other 3 will be dropped soon....and in any case none of these cricketers will ever retire, they will play every game possible forever, till they reach Government retirement age of 58
swami1984 Posted May 28, 2008 Posted May 28, 2008 VVS should be cryogenically frozen and then thawed everytime we play test series against Australia
The Outsider Posted May 28, 2008 Posted May 28, 2008 Except Sachin' date=' the other 3 will be dropped soon....and in any case none of these cricketers will ever retire, they will play every game possible forever, till they reach Government retirement age of 58[/quote'] :hysterical::hysterical::hysterical: Yeah, drop Dravid, Ganguly, and Laxman for Yuvraj and Kaif. How many times you reckon we will follow on in 5 tests?
Cricketics Posted May 28, 2008 Posted May 28, 2008 Except Sachin' date=' the other 3 will be dropped soon....and in any case none of these cricketers will ever retire, they will play every game possible forever, till they reach Government retirement age of 58[/quote'] yaa basically to make hari sankat happy, we should replace tendulkar with anirudh srikanth, ganguly with Vidyut Shivrama krishnan, Dravid with some random chennaite, and laxman with some random chennaite also. and drop sehwag, and replace him with balaji, balaji can hit six also like he hit to agarkar. Coach - Cheeka..
Zakhmi Posted May 29, 2008 Posted May 29, 2008 the first to retire should be saurav, by the end of 2009 vvs laxman should follow him after 1 more test series rahul dravid has 3 more yrs to go sachin too has time, 2 yrs or perhaps 3 but, my heart says that sachin shouldn't retire unless he gets 50 centuries and 100 half centureis the fab 4 shouldn't retire untill they see india as no1 ranked test playing nation well said about SRT's 100s and 50s...very much reasonable and reachable for this legendary master blaster...it will be a record for long long time to come in the world of cricket........most probably will remain unbreakable as cricketing has changed to the shortest kinda format with the introduction of T20. So, 100x :hatsoff: to this little master. Regarding the fab4 statement, I would like to say that it had been a lasting wish that they uplift the face of Indian cricket to glory...but, when it was looking on its way...guru Greg wrecked upon the hopes with SG being expelled. I sense fishy over that episode as a well planned way to damage Indian cricket...and they succeeded in it. After guru Greg, its Commander Vengy who is carrying on in the same way. On the other hand, MSD is unknowingly causing a big big damage to Indian Cricket. I hope that I am well upto making sense, here.
graphic23 Posted May 29, 2008 Posted May 29, 2008 Zakhmi, how is Dhoni causing a big damage to Indian cricket? I have been thinking that he's infact brought us back on to that path of uplifting Indian cricket? I have been impressed with Vengsarkar as the chairman of selectors, to be honest. He has been doing well as far as I'm concerned. The team no longer has only 8 places to fill - rather it has all the 11 now. I am not so sure about Greg's assessment though, as you said - I read his letter to BCCI regarding Sourav Ganguly, and he makes him seem like a villain - and the fact that it was available to the press makes it seem a bit more fishy as well. 4

I am really indebted for your concern and critical assessment. I was of the opinion that MSD has clearly sidelined the experienced players and he believes that only rushblood can turn the tables for the team. Onething is far more than sure that...no experience, no weightage and know experience to know the real standing of the team. He has clearly shown that he doesn't believe in experience and orthodox game of cricket. His instincts have not proved unfruitful to him...but instinct is never the righteous path. Experienced players and strategical game-plan succeeds even in tough situations for the team. Believe me, he is helpless in case of SRT otherwise he would have left him from his team long back. Vengy has given full authority to MSD to pick his players...irrespective of seniors or juniors. I am not against this move completely but, he would have advised MSD to retain seniors and field them into matches on rotational basis, atleast. In the transitional period under SG the team was doing quite well and some players who are in form were on fire. Guru Greg, while experimenting on upcoming stars and mixing up their utilities is very very harm causing. I think he was the Australian agent to serve the purpose and he succeeded in that.
