For his era, he was fine. No point meddling that ODI match just because it wasn't between two bilateral teams. Enough quality was there in both sides and that's why other batsman struggled. 185 of 132 for an international game and as a lone warrior tells us that he could switch gears a bit like Hussey once he gets going.

 

He certainly has those tricky final overs chases like MS where he has won games for Australia in Bilaterals too..

the quality is there in that match but intensity is often not there. Just like Aus v ROW in 2005.

 

Even then one game is not enough to prove hitting skills

 

His game was based on holding one end while others (sometimes even tailenders) attacked. MS followed similar template but atleast had power game when needed.

 

Obviously he was good bat but still overrated. For that era, someone like Klusener made more impact.

Bevan doesn't have that genuine power game but I was talking in terms of accelerating. I don't think Hussey had got power game either but he was very good in accelerating after getting in and that's why has some memorable T20 knocks.
